I started back as a lot of you know bowling after 28 years a couple a months ago ! I have been practicing like a mad man 3 to 4 nights a week 8 to 10 games a night . I would say my average is some place around 200+.

Having said all that I am getting BORED to tears bowling aginst MYSELF :( ..
Anyway there is a couple a sweepers around here on Sunday nights I have been to 1 a them to watch . I think I can compete and hold my own BUT NOT having been in any competition in years I not afraid BUT I really don't want to just well embarass myself . I am not the type that really cares BUT I do think folks should try to be ready befor they enter somthing like that even if it is just going to cost me a little time and a few bucks to see what I have now .

I have a spring league set up . But That is a while .

This sweeper the lanes have a heavy oil 30 foot FUNKY pattern on them nothing special just as the guy runs it says somthing we do the man that runs it told me that much ? I know its fresh oil and I may have a hard time !!

Anyway What ya guys think . I am IMHO ready to go head up to see just how good I have gotten to so far . Belive me I know I have a LONG wy to go to get back to were I want !

I guess the worse can happen is I get spanked and sent home :D

Thanks pipes

Do it.......sometimes you just have to pay your dues and learn how to bowl on patterns that are difficult and different from house shots. You have to learn somewhere. Just don't get down on yourself if you don't bowl good. And be open minded enough to realize where your faults are. Bowling on tough shots will highlight them tremendously.

Belive it or not but 95% of the guy's in that sweeper will be thinking the same thing as you. Go ahead and roll in it. Don't make any excuses while you're rolling, just have some fun. Who knows? You may just cash. But you gotta enter to win anything.

I agree I am just talking myself into it is all. I will be rolling Sunday night:D . The closer one to my house is $500.00 guaranted 1st place minimum . costs you $20.00 + pots = $40.00 . I use to cash in these things often Now I just wana survive the 1st cut

The other thing you can do is pick a league and show up every night they bowl to see if someone needs a sub. A few years ago when I moved to Oklahoma I did that. After a couple of weeks doing that one of the teams had someone tear a rotator cuff and asked me to bowl the rest of the season with them.

Really winnimg or losing doesn't bother me much I always want to WIN :O) But my big concern is they only give you about 5 minutes a practice and these old bones now days take longer to get lose these days :eek:a couple of Aleve and I hope I am ok

Pipes, do not go into the sweeper thinking you cannot hold your own or you are not good enough. Have a positive attitude and don't worry about what the other guy's are doing. Now is the time to start. If you do not enetr and you see the scores are low, you will be saying to yourself I could have beat that. Well go out and beat them ppes. Have fun and relax. Play your own game and no one elses
