It won't make you the worst bowler neither.
But combine the new equipment with the help of a coach and you have a combination to take you game to the next level.

Sometimes new equipment adds confidence, which is great for the mental games.
But, coach will payoff faster, than the lastest sponge, I mean bowling ball.

So does anyone know how useful or has ever used the bowlers map program ?Just wondering since with the Bowlers Map,the lessons run around $50 and without around $25 per lesson.

Is that where it analizes how you throw the ball, etc?

Yup....i've tired using my regular video camera to see how my form is and etc. but the bowlers map program allows you to freeze frame and analyze etc. using a laptop....

I've heard BowlersMap is great because it tells your speed and revs, and with the freeze framing...I'd do it if I had the chance....I'm over 3 hours away from the nearest coach with it lol
A video lesson with a competent coach can be very useful to the coach and student.
The usbc program trains coaches how to properly video tape a bowler. Although that sounds like a simple task, it is somewhat tedious to do it properly. A bowler should be recorded from multiple angles, front, 2 side angles (tight, wide) and 2 angles from the back (tight, wide.) Each of these angles allow the coach to analyze different aspects of the bowler's physical game and ball reaction.
Most bowlers who record video of themselves only record from the back view. Even then this is usually shot from the wrong angle. (Quick tip: When taping a wide shot from the back view, line up the camera with the bowling shoulder, NOT the middle of the back.)
Bowler's map and the other motion software add to coaches ability to analyze and explains things to the bowler.

The relationship between a coach and the student is a very intricate , Both
the student and the coach have responsabilities to that relationship. The coach's responsability is to have all the information necessary to help and benifit the student. And also the skills to communicate to the student the ideas he is trying to get accross to him/her. Now the student is responsible for a couple of things. The student is responsible for Focus , and retention.
If the coach is trying to get accross to the student a certain image and picture, the student has to have to ability to focus and try to see what picture the coach is putting out there on his part. The student also has to have the ability to retain it so he doesn't let it get away from him the next time both go over the same thing again.
The Coach has to be able to have differnt ways to communicate with the student so he will be able to get his point accross to the student. BUT on the other hand the student is also responsible for an open minded attitude so he realizes when he is going to do something that is different than he has normally done thst it will feel different . Some students will then say , I want it to be the same way but I want it to be better and the coach's answer is that ain't gonna happen. And with putting both the students and coach's responsabilities together and seeing an improvement is very rewarding.

Great Post Bubba, there is definately lots of things needed to have a productive lesson.
I've seen Bowler's Map, when I went through my Level 1.
It looks cool, it can calculate Rev Rate and Ball Speed. It does not do this automatically on every shot.
I have been Taped using Dart Fish it is also good. There are some other programs that are probably pretty good, when used properly.
I'd might to be tempted to ask for Video Lesson w/o Bowlers Map, unless you feel you need it.
They can use MS Movie Maker and Player watch the video. Heck even playback on the Camcorder. Sometimes the things they want to point out to you are really easy for them to see.
I'm not knocking the tool, I'd like to have access to a laptop with the software via a coach... the slo mo's, steping frame by frame, etc.
I'd image that there are coaches using Bowler's Map, not listed on the website.
I'm actually in the market for software (yay tax refund!) and I can justify the price for bowler's map. there are other programs out there for 1/3 of the price that have the majority of bowler's map features.

I didnt realize how much the bowlers map program costs, especially the gold. Not to mention the laptop and video camera tied in,now i know why lessons run $50-$60 an hour.
