Ball Recommendation for my Wife

Hi All,

My wife currently throws a Power Groove. The blue and silver one. She has pretty low ball speed, and low revs, until it passes the oil, then the revs are much higher. She wants to upgrade, but Im not sure what to get her. What do you guys recommend? She wants a black widow pearl, because I have one now, but I told her it might hook too much because of her ball speed. Any suggestions?

oh i forgot to add that she only throws 12 lbs, although she's thinking of getting 13lbs. Let's see if I can convince her to throw 14 :D

Id say let her get a 13 pound Toxic. Theres this girl I know at my lanes and she has one. She rolls it slow as well and it hooks like a dream.

Make sure she can handle going from 12 right to a 14 lb. You don't want her to maqke a big jump in the weight of the ball and have something happen like a hand or wrist injury.

The Toxic / BWP / or the BWS would be a good choice for here.

I agree with Bubba on this but she may want to also consider a Doom. If you want her to step up in weight, keep it at 13 so she doesn't throw her arm out.

I'll throw another vote out there for the 13lb ball, don't do 14lbs and end up with an injury.

As for the ball speed, if her revs are low as well, she would do fine.

Last fall The family went to buddies im CT. After more than two hours of carefull consideration my wife chose the DOOM due to it's red sparkly alure.

my 16 yr old daughter just moved up to a 14# bite from a 13# no mercy. She dosn't have a lot of speed or revs either. She had no problem finding a strike line given that targeting and speed were consistant with the No Mercy. She just wanted the bite so she could etch "ME" in the spider arms. other wise she would have a beat'n now for heavier oil.

The pearl is very speed sensetive and @ OOB isn't a heavy to medium oil ball.

THe pearl is the third ball out of the bag for me after the anger for heavy and BWS for medium.

A lot of gals have a really good shot with the gamebreaker so that may be a consideration also.

One more time for the newbies,

Step 2. Give Wife, G/F, etc most of your money.

Step 3. Leave the pro shop. Now. Head to bar.

Step 4. Order a shot of whatever booze the barmaid has her hand closest to. Order a backup drink,too. You'll need it.

Step 5. Should you be inclined to head back to pro shop,ask barmaid to bring you the blender. Shove face in blender. It's quicker and less painful than what's awaiting you in the pro shop.

Step 6. Resist urge to scream: "You bought a what?"

Step 7. If you couldn't resist Step 6,head back to bar. Get in line for blender.

Step 8. After viewing her purchases,do NOT ask if Ray Charles was working the pro shop tonight.

Step 9. Keep your gear WAY away from hers.

Step 10. There's always Divorce Court.

Honestly, the fact that Storm puts scent in their balls is one of the reasons I haven't tried their stuff yet. I may break down and get a Tropical though because I haven't found a good light to dry oil ball yet and I've heard good things about them.

I wonder if they have a scent gland like many animals that can be removed. :cool: I am struggling with the idea of having fruity balls.

Nope,I read all the junk that came with Tink's Storm. The smelly stuff is added when they mix the coverstock for the ball. Every time you grind on the ball it just brings fresh stuff out. More smell. Yuk.

I'll show her all of these and go from there. I'll probably have our pro shop guy watch her throw a game so he can further evaluate. For some reason though my proshop guy isnt too big on the Toxic. He said he'd rather go with the Doom or BWP.
