I had a really really bad night tonight in the weekly sweeper! I mean these guys are good and I being new back into it after 29 years and I am just holding my own . Tonights cut was a LOW one 570 BUT remember were on a sport shot . I missed the cut and I had a 201 in the 1st game so that should tell you how bad I bowled in 2 and 3..:( and we also got some old time PBA bowlers in this thing and a couple a head cases that were on tour,,
I had such a bad last 2 games I duno were to begin to fix it... I guess tommrow I start over at the begining , I am older as most of you know and hardly ever get rattled!!! BUT I did tonight and started missing spares that shuold be simple or normaly are .I feel like I embarssed myself..
I am just ranting to you giuys I know I just need to forget it and move on. I know But I could and should win this thing or come close I have made the cut once in 4 or 5 weeks . Its a weekly tourney . In a past life I played serious college sports and been in all kinds of presure maybe its the getting older the nerves are going I duno . I guess I am more pissed at myself than anything.
I didn't have my A B or even C game I just got away with my life . felt out a step and like a rusty door all night long.
This is kind a new to me as any sport I have ever went at came easy for me ! And bowling did years ago This 29 year lay off thing is killing me . I can see the shots I know how to do it but I just can't execute what I see in my mind.
Thanks for listening :o

I always say, "I'm sure it won't be the last time you[insert your mediocre night here]". For instance, I put up a real nice 153 in city tournament on a dead easy pattern. I was pretty ticked off, but hey I'm sure I'll shoot 150 again at some point in my life.

This sounds lame, but I'll have a hot bath and visualize all the things I could have done better. Then go practice the next week on the little things that where missing, like spares ect...
We're not robots so every one can have an off day, or game or what ever. The big goal is to bounce back asap.
On a side note bowlers like yourself are freaking awesome with today's equipment. I have mad respect for the older bowlers that are money in their spares and now can get more hook out of the new equipment. The best bowlers in our ally are retired dudes who are still kicking ars!

I shot a 430 in league a couple of months ago. I didn't get over it for a while, but it did get me to start seriously looking for a coach, which has helped my game a lot.

Just like they say in football, the quarterback has to have a short term memory in order to get back out there and execute without being negative of what happened or what could happen.Bowling is another example of this rule but without our team mates to keep us in the game. Its all on our shoulders and if we are just having a bad nite and not catching any breaks,we just need to accept what happened and hopefully take it as another lesson learned.

Laugh at myself. A lot. When it's going bad just tell yourself it's one of those nights and use the rest of the games for practice. Go way off the beaten path and try to find something new that'll work.

I been having a great time even missing the cut most a the time . IF I can learn to make moves faster I can do a LOT better I think . I am mostly a stright up and in player but am getting use to other ways of doing things and I think I am just a few breaks away from cashing I hope :D

I normally just play videogames and try to forget about it, but I never truly forget about it until the next tim I bowl good. I shot a 419 a couple weeks ago which was probably the worst that I shot withing 6 months, and I didn't forget about it until I bowled a 619 the other day. That 419 happened cus I couldnt control my temper, I was going crazy!

Do all you can to just move it from your head. The only scores that matter are the game you are currently bowling. If you had a bad first or second game, make a change and see what happens. Last night I shot 191-169-234. The 234 had one open, a split in the 10th frame. I do not always come back after a bad game, but usually I can.

There are no bad nights of bowling....only good nights of learning.

ive had some really bad 240 games and some really good 208 games, just depends on how you look at it, i take more pride in making really good shots and having to just about knock the pins down myself and shooting a low 200 game than shooting 240 while making bad shots
