Even the ones that dont advertise that they are PBA practice center, usually still honor it.

I'm assuming those are what you get with the membership and not requirements, right? If so, how and where do you sign up, and is everyone eligable?

There are three ways to become a member of the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA):
A 200 average or better for the most recent league season with at least 36 games in that league. (Use to require 2 consective season)
A 190 average or better in a sanctioned USBC Sport Bowling League. This is a league run by the USBC using the PBA patterns. You can find out if there are sports leagues near you by contacting the USBC at (414) 421-6400.
Cashing in a PBA Regional tournament as a non-member. You can gain access to information on entering regional tournaments on pba.com.https://www.pba.com/members/requirements.asp

Go for it but I will tell you up front, it is a great learning experience and do not get upset or frustrated because your avg will be a few points lower. If any one wants to be a better bowler, PBA experience leagues and sport shots are the way to go. You learn alot and learn fast how to adjust and ball combonations with conditions.

The man knows what he is talking about !!!! I bowl in a Sweeper every Sunday night and the Sport shots they lay down can be wicked. Just about everyone except me could or does hold a PBA card IF they want most don't want it a few do . It is a BIG wake up call if your use to THS or burned up lanes all the time . It a teach you to read lanes and make small changes IMO quick.. I have noticed
the guys that can adapt and make the proper moves are the ones cashing every week . Last week 1st place was worth $800.00 its $500.00 is min pay out depends on how many folks buy in $20.00 to bowl in it and $20.00 for pots . been 1 300 game in the last 6 weeks maybe 2 a year the oil is not easy for me anyway . BUT it sure is fun .:D WE get guys driving a 100 miles or more to roll every Sunday night .

2 enter a pba regional tournament is there a average requirement for a non member?
TenPinSniper
03-14-2008, 07:37 PM
Don't think there is a requirement for Non Members. But if not shooting big numbers from all part of the lanes then I would save my money. Guess it could also depend on the pattern if you have bowled them and have one you bowl extremely well on.
Don't let me discourge you.. but who wants to be Red Leader.

If you enter as a non meber there is no avg requirment to participate. But to be competative you should at least avg 190 or better to have any chance and also know how to read the PBA Patterns.
I is not easy by any means.

If you do enter a Regional as a non-member make sure to tell the guys you're rolling with that it's your first time. Most of these guys will appreciate the heads up and not get on your butt when you don't score. They'll also help you out with the two lane rule and keep you from making an ass out of yourself when you didn't mean to. Trust me on this one,ANY flaw in your game will become painfully obvious to all in a Regional. You will be humbled. Treat it as a learning experience and you'll be fine. Make new friends. Laugh at yourself. A lot.

Good Luck. Keep us updated on your scores. We'll see how that 165 average fares on a sport shot.
