BWP & BWB: Same Layouts but Puzzled

Ok, I've been here long enough that I have a pretty good idea of the general response/advice I will I get on this. I just wanted to make sure before I tried anything.

My Pearl and Bite are at OOB and layed out for length with a snappy backend. Both have the same amount of games on them owned for about two months. I've had alot of success getting my pearl to move and have actually had less informed bowlers who own the ball come up to me to ask how the heck my ball snaps so hard on the backend. (Mainly because their balls were drilled to read the lane earlier but they had no clue). I've never quite gotten the full potential out of my Bite though. I thought nothing of it though until I actually had fresh oil the last two weeks when I subbed in a couple leagues. It's still night and day. Even on fresh oil I can get my pearl to move about 7 to the pocket on a down and in. My BWS at 2000 polished was moving quite well also.

Hmmmm, pattern here? The Bite was getting the least movement of all my ball no matter how deep or how far out I moved. Is it possible that someone's game just doesnt match up for dull balls? Is that an oddity? At some point there must a situation, outside of a THS, that would allow match me up well with a dull ball. My first two reactive balls I owned prior to moving to the widow line were particle but I can't remember the finish on them (Ebonite Predator Jungle Green, Hammer Sharp Blade). What do you guys think?

Jara the BWZB and the BWP are both 4000 abralon out of the box. The onlky differenct is the Pearl is factory polished. I have noticed that taking the BWB down to 2000 will change the movement of the ball to the extent of being smooth through the heads and have the n sharp break on the back. You couold also try polish to make the BWB rev more in the midlane and stor the energy for that real snap on the back.

I figured polish was the next step. Hadn't heard anything about the 2000 grit finish but I'll keep that in mind.

I would take it down to 2000 grit before you actually go with the polish. Then, since you already have the ball at 2000 and if it still doesn't react the way that you want it to, just throw some polish on it and see how that works.

I might sound like a broken record here, but it seems both your polished balls are working fine, yet the BWB which is at 4000 non polished isnt moving how you expected?

Perhaps because the BWB has a stronger cover causing it to burn up its energy.

I would suggest polish as the first step and see how it reacts.

Just because its fresh oil doesnt mean its a heavy pattern. You could still be playing on a lighter oil pattern that just goes further down the lane.

Try some polish and see how that goes for you, let us know if it solves the problem.

Not sure if I've seen this discussed before. What's the difference between Factory Finish and Delay Polish. I currently have Factory Finish.

That's funny because my BWB is drilled strong. I'm a down and in player and like to stay around the 10 board without much swing. My BWB has more backend than anything. That ball is super snappy at OOB conditions.

Could be a style thing though. I would think the BWP would be longer and sharper though but on less oil.

Factory finish will increase length and backend. While delayed reaction or extender will increase length and decrease backend.

On the right conditions the BWB is great, sometimes you need the surface adjustment to match the lanes.

The BWP is made for a lighter / medium oil, if its working great for Jara and his polished BWS is working, then from my stand point it seems that the condition hes trying to use the BWB on is a lighter / medium oil. Polishing the BWB should help with the reactions hes looking for.

I'd consider our house shot about medium oil and I know the length is 41ft. I don't know the exact volumes though. I'm fortunate in that I play in a double shift, so I get to see the lanes fresh and broken down in the same night and every now and then get to bowl on the same pair twice in a row.

We just got a new type of synthetic but I cannot remember the name. They replaced the old surface which was anvilite. The new stuff holds the oil better than the anvilite did but the anvilite carried down more (if that makes sense).

Oh, and our house closes open bowling from the time they condition the lanes until league starts.
