Okay i currently carry a ebonite prime time, Black Widow Solid, and Wrath High Flush. I believe the black widow is oob coverstock, the prime time is polished, and the wrath is 1000 grit aberlon. Well recently i bowled in the indiana state youth bowling tourney. I relized that my wrath and prime time are too close. We had 2 houses, the first house was rather oily. I threw the black widow. Then we had to go to the other house. It was dry. Most kids happen to carry a plastic ball for spares, but i dont... I can flatin my wrist and get any spare with almost anyball.. (just dont trust the widow at times). so i threw my wrath which is my weakest ball. Still coming high or brooklyn going from 20 out to about 5 or 4 board and back.. Kinda pathetic i thought. so, I am thinking about getting my wrath polished but that would make all 3 have a shiny or somewhat shiny coverstock... If i polish the wrath will it be better on light oil? Or should i wait and buy like a tornado or black widow clear or something similar? If needing to know i throw probably 16-17 mph, cranker or tweener.. Depending on shot i can change. I perfer cranker i just am more accurate with the ball hitting my mark. Polish or no polish or maybe even a grit change..

The polish will only be a temporary fix and then it will wear off, not only that but all the polish will do is delay the snap on the backend a little more, you may not want to do this, but if you want it for that certain dry condition I would think about getting it redrilled weaker. just my 2 cents.

the delay will help though wouldnt it? cuz it will go longer then and snap the same but farther down and it would be better off cuz it seems to break quite early

right thats what it will do, may make it snap harder but it will be farther down lane, the reason it may make it snap harder is because it would be storing up its energy longer than it would normally when u say it snaps hard. Try it, thats all I can say is give it a shot and if it doesnt work then think about redrilling. Have your pro shop guy/girl watch you bowl with it and see what they say you should do.

"Three shiny or somewhat shiny coverstocks?" The BWS is supposed to be dull, not shiny. Sounds like it's time to clean the ball.

I was thinking the exact same thing.

Just think,a BWS full of oil and covered in car wax. That would make a swell spare ball.

Do not use car polish on a balls surface. Wax and polish are two different things. Wax will make the ball slide and not have the friction to react. it becomes a spare ball in essence. it will react the same as it would if you srayed Armour All on the surface. Besides it is a non approved substance and your scores can be disqualified for using it.

naw the black widow is clean i use energizer ball cleaner after every series or day of bowling.. But it is somewhat shiny.. i might have to give it a back to make it normal.. but the ball works great right now so... no change wanted

Try hitting it with Clean N Dull instead. That'll probably get the ball back to it's intended look,it should make the ball move a little more on the backend becuase of the tackiness in the Clean N Dull.

Run that thing through a Hot Water Bath, about 10-14 times... maybe add some dawn soap between rounds 3-7. Depending on how many times you plan to run the ball through. Then have the surface retouched to whatever.
