Okay, the first poll results were very interesting. Now to find out some more info.

Here's the question: The USBC wakes up and changes everything to a sport shot. Do you quit bowling in a certified USBC league?

Voted No in the other poll, because I think there are other things that can be done boost creditability.

Like bring the tolerances on existing oil patterns. Get rid of the 20:1 ratio and the 3 unit minimum for one. They could bump down ratio and up the minimum, then do it again the next year or year after... before you know we're all bowling on 10:1 ratio's with a lessened bumper or pool of oil in the middle

Why do I have to wait for them to go all sport shots before I can get in a non USBC league? Why do I have to keep sending my money off to a toothless governing body that gives me nothing in return. Do they have meaningful rules to make a level playing field? No. Do the protect the "integrity" of the game? No. What exactly do they do other then give us lip service and look for more comfy surroundings? Why should any of us support this do nothing orginization?

I'll stay for one reason. I have a passion for this sport. It has been in my blood since I was six and no matter what conditions are out there, I'll better myself by overcomming them.

I'll stay but I'll have to join another league. Our league would definitely fold. We only have maybe 5 "bowlers" in the league. The rest are "guys who bowl to get out of the house". They are so used to the THS that it's ridiculous. If the guy who oils the lanes makes the slightest changes, it was like he started WW III. These are the guys who just bring 1 ball to league, but every shot should be a strike. Then when they don't strike, there is something wrong with the lanes. That's when the innocent locker takes a little beating. Then if they miss the 10 pin that should have fallen, the table gets the abuse. It's kinda sad to watch "adults" have a tantrum. I would leave the league, but Fridays are my only night out. But I figure, have your tantrums, I'll keep working on improving my game, and we'll see who gets more $$$ at the end of the year. Sport league... I'm all for it.

I hear ya. Nights full of complaints about pocket or brooklyn hits where the obvious entry angle does not maximize the strike potential. And I get looked at as a downer or an a-hole when I try to explain that there was no way in hell they should've expected success.

is a guy that may leave at least 4 10 pins a game. When you ask him how he adjusted to knock out the 10, he says "I didn't". I keep thinking if you make minor adjustments, your game will improve. I feel like I'm on a treadmill when I', on the approach. I am constantly making adjustments. Whether with my feet, the line, or hand placement just to try to get that better angle to the pocket. Forgot to mention that we have more than 1/2 the guys in our league that never clean their equipment. Had a guy 2 weeks ago tell me he needs a new ball 'cause it lost it's hook. I asked him when the last time he gave it a good cleaning was. He said he doesn't clean his ball. I told him if he gave it a thorough cleaning, he'll see the hook return. But I can't complain too much. I sold 3 of my Hammers to some guys in the league. Two out of 3 had big average jumps in a short time. Now if they would just buy a spare ball, they would be a lot more consistent. But that goes back to "the bowler" vs. "a guy who bowls"

No, and you won't get many "no" responses on here because we are mostly bowlers who want to get better and like a challenge.

However, if you took a poll of ALL bowlers, I think you may get more "yes" responses.

We shouldn't. Unfortunatly, they're the only game in town until the BPAA buys the USBC and disbands it. Or shows some guts and makes it the 900 pound gorilla of bowling. That would be nice.

Couldn't agree with you more Bubba!
Being that I am probably one of the most competative people you would want to meet I would say that if there is a tough shot, than I have to work harder! I love a challenge!

USBC wont have the time to dictate the lane conditions in every house for every league what are you suppose to do if you are the third shift league the house we bowl in doesnt have time to reoil lanes between shifts also our association doesnt even have the people or equipment to have a sport shot league and the house doesnt have the money to pay for to certify into sports shot. we have a league intown that puts the shot out but we cant sanction sports because of it so until they figure things out and if they switch the awards program anymore most leagues arent going to sanction after they do change 85% of bowlers dont bowl tournaments i myself bowl 9-pin no tap tourneys which arent sanction thats were the money is at around my area i live in a big town/s and we only have 1 scratch league bowling is outpriced it self and is going down hill and fast the awards will make it even worse we had a guy last week his first sanction league and he avgs 160 and shot a 299 game and gets nothing but a plaque no over avg awards or anything else which really sucks and leaves a very bad impression on USBC his first question is why do we pay sanction if i dont get anything out of it. he could have took that money and bought his own plaque.

Well, at least he is eligible for a ring if he wants it andthey still have the other awards as of now.

Woo hoo, This just underlines the problems that the USBC is. It happily takes our dues, tells us how its going to do all these great things for us, and then it spends all its time and all our money moving to a new headquarters. Most just do not see any return on their investment. Only a few get tangible returns like rings. Without tangible returns the USBC must convince the masses that it is giving them something intangible like protecting the "integrity" of the game, but they clearly don't and in reality can't do that. So like all governments they keep lying to us and hope we don't notice that they never keep their promises.
