Thoughts on playing national shot

Just wondering on thoughts on how to attack this years pattern? Myself looking at the graph I think a team needs to burn up around 8,9,10 boards in the warm up but a friend of mine said they were actually a little farther right of that.They shot 2900 with a guy shooting 480.The Cambridge team bowled the time and he said they were playing that far right.So if anybody has any insight please respond.I don't bowl until April 29&30.

You could always use the old saying: "When in doubt, throw it out." Way outside that is. Myself, I see an opportunity for an inside shot with a gradual move outside as the day goes on. Start at the 20 and let the ball go out 4 or 5 boards. Won't be any traffic that far inside to mess with the line.

I was wondering about that because on you tube there is video showing bowlers playing inside.

Rowdy-now starting at twenty and work your way right as the night goes, would you try to break down an area to the right at all or not even bother?

It would look like a shot from the Way Old Days. Lay the ball down on the 20 and basically aim for the right side of the 3 pin. As the you wear out the shot,start moving to the right just enough to stay in some oil. Everyone else will be attacking from way right,probably around the 5 board. This way you stay out of their traffic and don't have to deal with the line going away really fast. Hey,if it don't work out,you can always join the crowd outside.

I agree with Rwody. Start playing insdie and if the shot breaks down too much move it gradually out to the right. But then again if it holds and no one elase in playing there , the shot may hold for you and no move is needed. Let us know how you made out when you go.

You must take in account that unless your bowling one of the squads that has fresh oil, you are at the mercy of who and how they bowled in front of you. Assuming you dont have fresh oil, most people will be playing the track area. which will force you inside of that (15 or deeper at the arrows) or way outside to go around it (1st arrow or less) Not many people have the nerve to play between the gutter and 1st arrow. But if you do, there is a shot out there.

I know team events is fresh oil and I have had the bad luck of following Team USA for 4 years for the minor events.That is why we changed our dates to get away from the teams that still go the used to be convention week.I have the luxery of bowling with some great bowlers over the years and have learned alot from them.

I just got back from Vegas and the guys coming back from there said it was inside and gradually moving out

my advice is to not take anything aggressive at all i took my bwb and it was way too aggressive in team i put it away and went to my raw doom i found the pocket but the carry was aweful i started at 12 to 7 and no carry i hit the pocket 27 times and struck only 10 times with no doubles my worst series in 7 yrs i am a stroker i track closr to fingers with ball speed at 15mph not much hand i have been going for 13 yrs and its the dryest i have seen. i only got the bwb drilled the most aggressive because i usually struggle with getting to pocket in team but not this year in minors i started with the raw doom and played 3rd arrow and had to move in gradually finished 4th arrow anyway hope this helps good luck have fun

i did see a guy use his plastic spare ball and shot 680 in team 720 doubles and 690 singles he played straight up 8 board:cool:

I'm doing Vegas next year for sure. I was thinking about trying to get a team or two together, but after the last attempt I'll let someone else do the heavy lifting. Tink and I will do what we've always done: Rent a big house for the week and see who wants to hang out and roll with us.

I have heard people say, don't bring anything too aggressive. I have heard that there is plenty of ball movement from the outside where there hasn't been much in the past. Most of what I have heard is a lot of people are throwing from 8-12 pretty much down and in. I have taken not so aggressive in the past and I haven't scored well. I am taking aggressive this year. I am going to attack the pins and do the best I can. Can't always listen to everyone else. I have done that in the past and have bowled lousy.
