wasnt sure how to put it, but ive been having this problem a lot lately.

I have been bringing my arm a little behind my back (or so ive been told) during my swing, and even when i try to keep it straight/aligned, it doesnt happen. This has led me to shoot quite bad over the past few weeks (400 series).

Of course, because of the swing, my ball goes straight out to the gutter..which causes a bunch of problems. I cant get the ball to go farther down the lane before it gets out to 10 or 5..its just straight out there, which leads to me trying to put it farther out, even though its not really possible..

any tips or advice? I have practice tomorrow from 4-5:30 before my march madness tounament, so i figure thatll give me some time to work on it

1. Work on a free arm swing. Pushing the ball up and out then letting the ball swing under its on weight like a pendulum from start to finish

2. Keep your arm and elbow close to the hips fron the beginning of your stance to downswing to follow through.

3. Make sure that in your approach you try to keep your steps relatively close to the same line towards the foul line.

If you execute correctly you, you may have to slightly move the hips out of the way with your pushaway step once the ball comes down into the backswing. You also want to make sure that your slide step ends up in front of your previous step and that you get your sweeper leg cleared for good balance. You may need to make some adjustments depending on the width of your hips and other things. It would help if we had video.

Your armwsing coming through from the inside isn't necessarily a bad thing. You're in a great leverage position. Ever try walking at an angle to the foul line and just letting the ball go out? If you're walking slightly to the left, the ball should go where you want it to then. The idea I'm going for is to NOT have you try to make all kinds of swing changes so close to your tournament. This isn't the time for that. My thinking is to take the swing and shot you have and make it fit the lane.

Look at Wes Malott, his goes behind is back also. Its a good leverage position like Rowdy said. But one thing you can do that helped me is to make sure when your holding the ball its the right of your hip so it doesn't have to go out to the right to clear your hip.
