Sorry Im new to this whole thing. This is my first message board adventure, so im not really sure how it works. Anyways Im a league bowler, however i do take part in some tournaments. I just have one league, its an old 10 lane house, with the orignal wood lanes still. The past few years ive started off with a 199 average, but by the end of the season (34 weeks) I end up dropping off to about 180 or so. I used to throw The Real Deal, but now I have a Black Widow Bite, and a Cherry Vibe. Ive been having trouble with consistency lately, and its really affecting my game, and I was wondering if anyone had any tips or ideas that they would be willing to offer to pull me out of my slump before the state qualifier.

Well Im left handed, and theres only 2 of us in the league so every night i should have a decent shot, seeing as how it usually just me on the left seide of the alley. I have the horrible habit of not adjusting my feet or my mark, but my speed. I if i cant stay firm with it like i want, ill try to throw it wasy out to like 2 or 1 and try and sweep it back. Now im having trouble withi my speed, and im really struggling to find a good line, due to the fact that im adjusting too many things.

Welcome to the Hammer Message Board WenIncubusAtax. Well it seems that you are trying to adjust your speed due to a med to light oil condition. Wood lanes play different that synthetic surfaces as you know. ONE OF THE problems IN bowling is that different surfaces lead to different ball reactions.

On Wood lanes, by the third game of league play balls will hook a lot more on wood lanes because this surface often is the most rough in terms of friction between ball and lane. On such a rough surface, you might want to try deep inside lines, with more loft and rotation, to keep balls alive. Other options to fight a tough wood lane include switching to higher-RG ball or using more polish--especially when there is less lane oil.

The star bowler depends upon his control and consistency to keep his average high. But he wasn’t born with either. He had to develop both over a long period of time and through plenty of practice. Actually, consistency means the ability to use your control time after time. So keep after your game and be willing to practice. It will pay dividends in higher scores.

It is very important to keeps your basics. And perfecting the fundamentals means higher scores. So makes it sure that you are well aware of the basic tricks of the game of bowling to score when the next time you goThe more perfect your grasp of fundamentals, the more consistently high scores you will roll, for you are then repeating, time after time after time, the same exact steps, the same swing of the ball in rhythm with the hands, body and feet, the same backswing and the same release. You will be as close to a machine as it is possible to get.

Dude, you answered your own questions. You have a shot that gets to the pocket with a certain pace of delivery and speed, right? Don't change any of that. Just move to make YOUR shot fit the lane conditions that particular night. Don't think about changing speeds for now, just figure out where to stand and throw to make your shot get the job done.
