I'm curious to see how many here are in the bowling business (pro shop operator, staffer, center proprietor, touring pro, etc) versus how many aren't in the business (league bowlers, bowling fanatics, Hammerheads, etc).
Now to see if this poll thingy works...

Right now just a league/tournament bowler. Have a couple resumes out to try and get on staff with a company but just have to wait and see what happens.

Etonix, here is the info ;listed on the Hammer "ask an expert" page...
Question: How do I get considered for the Hammer Amateur or Regional Staff?
Answer: Hammer selects Amateur and Regional Staff Players on an annual basis in April/May based on bowling ability, bowling accomplishments, tournament schedule, involvement in a bowling center/pro shop, and ability to influence sales in a specific market. The typical Hammer staffer has a 220+ league average and bowls in 20+ tournaments per year. If you would like to be considered for a staff position, please forward your bowling resume and cover letter to contact@hammerbowling.com for review.

Thanks bubba, I will deffinately be sending in my application soon. I gotta get some good video first to :) Would that be more convincing for them if they saw a good video? Along with trophies of recent tournaments and stuff like that?

They want a resume and list every thing they want in the resume. That's the best advice i can give. List all accomplishments, and past tournaments and future tournaments. And include everything they are looking for in the list

Work in a Proshop, not the operator, just an assistant. Been doing that off and on for 5 years. Thought about submitting my resume this year to Hammer and maybe a handful of other companies but decided against it.

Wow. Survey's at 85% not in the business at the moment. I expected to see just the opposite. I figured that with the level of knowledge and experience I see on this board that most folks would, as a matter of course, HAVE to be bowling for a living in some way, shape or form. Maybe you folks are just closer to it or more involved than I am.
I'm a long time bowler with some small amount of ability and I used to think I knew something about this game until I started trolling this board. Hats off to everyone!

Part of the USBC RVP Program... for a Youth Program, we get some compensation for that from the alley. (Most of us are certified, those that are not generally have been told my the alley management, they will pay for Level 1 Course on-line.)

Redo the poll. Add the option of "Used to be in the bowling business" and watch the percentage jump.
