Went to this tournament: http://www.olympialanes.com/ it shows what the name of the tournament is called on the main page. I bowled in this last year for the first time and shot like 640 or something like that. The newspaper has been advertising saying that the shot they are going to use will be a fairly simple and easy house shot so they can attract more people. Get there, we were supposed to start at 6pm, didn't start until 7:45pm. They said we got 6 minutes of practice, got about 2 minutes into practice and they said that practice was over. Well, myself and all of the otehr people that were bowling were complaining that it wasn;t an easy house shot, and it wasn't. It had to be some kind of sport shot, which I have absolutely no experience on. Get the ball outside of 10 and it would skid all the way down, get the ball inside of 13 and it would go thru the nose. Did ok the first two games. Shot a 214, and a 212. Then had to switch lanes and shot a couple 170s, ugh. I'm not gonna complain though because I ended up winning 75 bucks through the brackets and pots. Everyone on my pair averages from 190 to 215. One of the guys bowled a 97. I was the highest on the pair with a 598. Bowled 4 games and then threw the worst of the four away. 598 still isn't too bad for someone who has never bowled on a sport shot or PBA pattern.

IMO, u can be mad about the practice time and start time, but don't complain that the condition was harder than it was advertised to be.

I agree with pain. I would be upset about the practice time as well but as long as everyone bowled on the same pattern then I wouldn't have anything to say about it. Even though they advertised it was THS. It can't be too much worse than what I experienced up in Scranton this year. We were the final heat to go and after each heat they would only strip down to 40ft and reoil. When we got to start we had the carrydown from 6 5man teams to contend with on top of the fresh oil they layed. It made for some serious adjustments but thats half the fun of bowling.

I bowled in that tournament yesterday at noon. In everything i was told, there WAS going to be a sport shot. In the past years people have been complaining because they just used a normal house shot. They said that it wasnt fair to the people who bowl there in a league or on a regular basis. It was definitely a challenge, but it was still fun nonetheless. Definitely an experience.

It was definately fun. And I still think I did really good for someone who has never bowled on a sport shot.

lol you bowled in the idle hour tournament? the times tribune one?, I was there for every single day of that tournament, bowled a couple squads too. Probably saw you there. Im from right next to there. They dont reoil after the first squad but they do reoil after the second squad but they only reoil the heads, the backends are still like they were from the previous squads. Next year if you go and want a good shot bowl the 11 oclock squad just a suggestion, all the top scores are in that squad for a reason, Ive watched enough of that tournament to know exactly when to bowl, and just trust me first squad is the way to go.

Not sure if that was the one actually or not. It was at the southside bowl. Anyway we did doubles in the last heat on Saturday then on Sunday we were the first heat. It was the first two days of the tourney and our team was ranked 9th at the end of the second day. Our team name was Strike Force. I've since checked and we aren't in the top 10 anymore but judging from the scores from last years we should still get some money. We bowled a 3799 and now that I look we are still in the money but not by much. Its showing unofficial low in the money.....3726. Somethin is better than nothin I guess :-)

oooo Yea southside is always like that, shots not great but the tournament shot is sadly better than the league and when you do find the pocket have fun trying to carry.

Yeah I wasn't overly impressed with the place. I mean they did have some nice concessions but I think I'd have rather went to the tourney at Northland bowl in state college that was going on the same day. You can tell the people that bowl there alot. As the top 5 teams are all from scranton and the top 2 doubles are from scranton. Next stop is Erie for states. Never bowled there before but I heard from several people that the lanes were pretty dry when they went.

Well, it wasn't my choice to bowl in the later squad. I like bowling in the first squads because when you get to the center, no one is there and you always start on time. But the guys I bowled with wanted to bowl in the later squad. Oh well.

I agree with Pain on this one as well. I know that it may be difficult bowling through a condition that you aren't familiar with. Two months ago, I had an MJBT in March. I went into the tournament prepared for a sport pattern. I wasn't disappointed. In fact, we had three, yes, THREE, different sport patterns that we were put up against. Try making an on-the-spot adjustment going from a 35 ft sport pattern to a 47 ft sport pattern. I made the cut after the 9-game qualifier at -25, being in third place. It's all about making the necessary adjustments, reading the lanes and other people's shots on the lanes that you are going to and the shots of the people that are ahead of you.
