I'm having trouble trying to figure out which ball to choose. I currently use an old rhino hand me down but want something, um, less 80's? lol. I would guess my ball speed is around 18 mph, give or take and I'm probably low-mid on the revs. I've been looking at a No Mercy, Black Widow and Hawg Zilla. im not closed to suggestions, any input on which might best suit me is greatly appreciated;)

thx,

heres probably the rankings right now

1. black widow (best selling ball right now)
2. no mercy (still new but probably good or better then black widow)
3. hawg zilla (good ball but black widow is surely better)

I've been having the same problem tree. I can't choose from a hawg zilla or a black widow. In my thread (hawg Zilla or Black Widow) most people said to go with black widow. But i dont know about the no mercy

Is the black widow good on heavier oil? If not then i think i'll get a hawgzilla.

Ok, for 18 mph speed and low rev.s, should should definetly get No Mercy. It sounds like you can "handle" a ball with low revs and high speed. Hawg Zilla and Black Widow are both very good and (if you look at the PBA tour) very successfull. But No Mercy is better in terms of being controllable, blasting the H3ll out of the pins, and the pin action is amazingly better than any ball on the market. No Mercy (you'll see) will be a best seller, and I do think that once more people see it out on the battlefield (the lanes) they will definetly want to buy it. ;)

wow, thanks for the quick responses!! lol. I think i was leaning towards the
No Mercy, but didn't want to have the blinders on just because it is a newer ball. Eightball, if it were an option, i definitely would get all 3 :D Pincrusher, that is the problem I have had, finding people that have actually used the No Mercy that have posted reviews, but from what it seems you might be right about it gaining more popularity once it gets out there more. Thanks again for all of the input, I'll check back later

I don't think the No Mercy is going to sell near as many balls as the Widow.. Almost every pro shop I go in, they show me the Widow.. And they highly recommend it to me, considering thats what they use.. But, in my opinion they are all VERY good balls and great for anybodys arsenal..

From what I have heard in another thread was that the No Mercy hit harder than the Widow for some guy.. Which is cool and if it works for him, it may work for you..

I have the Hawgzilla, and it just doesn't work successfully for me, but I have only bowled like 20 games on it and plan on bringing it out again for a trial run..

The Widow is very good to me and I love it.. I think it hits harder than any ball.. And reacts as well as any ball.. I throw inbetween 16-18 MPH with mid-revs and it sounds like our styles may decently match and I have success with the Widow throwing that style..

But, if you are leaning toward the No Mercy, I would say give it a go.. If you are unsure, keep on asking.. But, I think you are going to get WAY more people saying get the Widow, so if your mind is set on the No Mercy, get it..

Here we go again... Of course the Widow has sold more! The No Mercy has is just now being released. The Widow was releassed a few months ago, so logic says that a ball that has been out since July would sell more than a ball that has been out for a few days now! Anyways treedog, you really can't go wrong with a Hammer ball, but I would go with the ball that is more new, because it has more technology in it. But it also matters what lane conditions you're bowling on.;)

Heavier Oil- HawgZilla for a tweener, Crankers would probably dig the No Mercy......Medium Oil is what the majority bowl on and the Black Widow dominates that condition in my estimation........

Ahhhh, I figured you would add a comment to this :D

But, as I said they are all good balls, but I can guarentee the Widow will sell more balls, regardless of the time out..

If your mind is set on the No Mercy, get it.. Its the newest and arguably the best ball in the Hammer line up, not in my opinion but in Pincrushers(so I would say you can take his word for it and be pretty safe;))

Whatever ball you do choose.. Good luck and remember "Nothing hits like a Hammer!!"

lol, after reading some of the other posts on here i figured pincrusher and blackwidow95 might have some commentary, hopefully its all in good fun!
regardless, i went ahead with the no mercy, 3" pin and 3oz topweight, per some of the recommendations i read on the forums here. I do appreciate all the feedback, cant say i was surprised, this seems to be a pretty active forum!
I am however wondering what drilling pattern i should go with. as i seem to have read here and elsewhere the basic #1 pattern is the way to go, but I was looking at pattern #7 for low rev bowlers, which i probably am closer to than a
"high rev" bowler. again any input is much appreciated as I am fairly new to the more technical aspect of this. Just hoping to do it right. again, thanks to everyone for the input!

I went with drill 1, and quite honestly on most conditions its to much ball

I only pull out the no mercy in the real heavy stuff, anything else and it just over reacts for me (could be my revs and speed though)

If you want it for heavy oil use drill 1, if you want it to be more versatile (sp) use something less aggressive, but i love the ball, i use the bw for pretty much everything except the heavy stuff and spares :p

Either way you drill it, youll love it!

I would ask Brian Graham in the "ask an expert" link. But if you're high rev bowler DO NOT go with the reccomended because you won't be able to control it. Like I said just ask Brian. Good Luck!
