I am getting a new ball and I have always used a 16 pound ball but thought about going with a 15 pound ball this time. Just trying to get an idea from you all what weight ball you use.

I use 15lb because I seem to get better control and can slow/speed up the ball better. Plus I don't seem to get as tired.

15lbs. You can go all the way down to 14lbs, if desired. Most 14 lbs have the same core as 15 and 16 lbs balls.
I'd drop to 15lbs now and 14 later in life.

I use 15 b/c it is easier on the body and I get less wrist fatigue.

I use 16, but I can control it and don't get tired at all.. If you desire a 15 lb., I say try it..

I used to be all about the 16lb balls... "manlier", "stronger", etc... WHATEVER!!!
I finally got smart and dropped back to a 15lb ball. I've been nothign but pleased with the results. I can bowl longer with less fatigue, I get less wrist fatigue, I am able to speed the ball up (and even slow it down) better, and it just feels better believe it or not.
Don't feel like you have to use a 16lb ball just because Jones does... nobody cares about Jones. He can die in a fire ;)

Dang that was kinda harsh, eh, Josh?? Lol.. I am just comfortable throwing a 16 lb. I can speed it up and slow it down and not get fatigued.. But, I do see ur point a 15 lb. can be better in some aspects, what is one pound gonna do, right??

Harsh? Was just sharing personal experience.
And you'd be surprised how much difference one pound can make. Hell, sometimes it means you get more finger revs in the ball which make it hit harder ;) It all depends though. You gotta use what's right for you, and I know for me , even though I can handle a 16lb ball just fine, that 15lb balls work even better.

i used to bowl 16lb then dude to a back injury i had to drop weights down to 15lb then to 14/b , with the 14lb i find i carry more 10pins and can throw the same line and speed over more games and dont get tired and swing always feels nice and free not forced, best thing ive done is droped to 14lb i was ave 170's droped to 14lb and now my ave is 191, 196 and 209 in my leagues
then again i know some one who tryed to drop from 16lb to 15lb and just couldnt cope with the lighter weight
try 15lb if u dont like it try 14lb or back to 16lb , id recomend buying 2nd hand balls first at the lower weights so u dont waste money if it dont work
let us know what u decide to do

I was just playin' around about the harsh thing(hints the lol).. I have been thinking about trying a 15 lb. ball, but never actually wanted to drop the weight since I am pretty comfortable with it.. And I didn't say you couldn't handle a 16 lb. ball, I'm sure you can.
And whats right for you is always best.. As long as its Hammer!!

ive thrown 15 lbs forever but my arm would always be hurting the next day dropped to a 14 with the black widow and what a difference ,less arm fatigue more consistent and yes it does hit just as hard if not harder than my 15 lb balls but then again that black widow is one awesome ball

My personal experience has been that I tended to pull a lighter weight ball inside my target and/or had too much deflection at the pins,,,, so every thing I have is 16 lb and I'm happy with the results

And I started overthrowing it badly. I went back to 16#, and never looked back. I've thown 16# since I was 18 (I'm 41 now). My driller said that if I can throw a 16# without any problems, to NOT change weights.
I recently went to an ebonite demo day, and threw 15# there. I still overthrew a little bit, but not like before. During the demo day, I discovered that I can throw 15#, but I'm still a more comforable throwing 16#. My 16# Doom feels lighter than the 15# Infinite One that I threw at demo day. My Doom is custom fit for me, while the Infinite One was close, but not the same as my Doom.
But I will say that with modern coverstocks, weightblocks, and whatnot, anything 14-16# will react well.
I think that if you're comfortable with 16#, don't switch. I plan on staying with 16# for many years to come.

i used to throw a 16 lb ball. then my pro shop owner refused to sell me 16 lbs he said i didnt have enough control over the ball and told me to get a 15 lb. i am very glad i did that and will not turn to a 16 lb ball except for my Big Time on oily lane conditions. 15 lb definetly has more control

I throw a 16LB ball aways have and always will, tried a 15LB ball a friend let me use and I threw it to hard, to fast, no control, because I've thrown 16LBS for so long I don't like change that much, I still use my 20 year old Blue Pearl (Faball) regularly. If you can find a used 15 or 14 LB ball so you don't waste your money.

Thanks for all of your input. I dont get tired at all and have good enough control of my 16 pound ball. I just heard 15 was easier to control and from all of the responses I believe I will just stick with what I already use.
Thanks,
Jason

Hey, You know what they say "If it ain't broke, Don't fix it" ;)
What kind of average do you have? What ball do you use?
Just wondering why you thought about a change?

MY HUSBAND WENT FROM A 16LB TO A 15LB BALL LAST YEAR, BASICALLY BECAUSE HE WAS STARTING TO FEEL WRIST PAIN AFTER BOWLING. WITH THE 14LB BALL WEIGHT, IT ALLEVIATED THE WRIST PAIN, AND HE LOVES IT.
I WENT FROM A 13LB BALL LAST YEAR TO A 14LB BALL THIS YEAR. I LOVE THE DIFFERENCE, BECAUSE NOW I HAVE MORE CARRY. HOWEVER, THE DISADVANTAGE FOR ME WAS THE FACT THAT MY SPARE BALL (IN ADDITION TO MY STRIKE ZONE) IS 13 LBS AND I ALWAYS HAVE TO THINK ABOUT THE DIFFERENCE, PRIOR TO RELEASING THEM (i.e., especially when shooting the 10/7 pins).
BOTH MY HAMMER DOOM AND BLACK WIDOW ARE 14LBS, AND THESE ARE THE BALLS I USE MOST OFTEN, BECAUSE THEY'RE THE ONES I GET THE MOST CARRY FROM.
GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR DECISION!
