645 Singles pretty much stayed in the same spot and road it out. 220 201 224

How did you do in brackets if you do not mind sharing? I imagine getting a low first game and then a couple of 250s is not the best way to collect.;) Did your 1800+ get you any awards as a first time Nationals participant?
I am going to Nationals at the end of the month (June 30 and July 1) and I am hoping to invest some money there on some of the bracket action. Going to see if my practice in my USBC Nationals Sport Shot Pattern League will help me at all. I understand that the shot in the league is different than what people are experiencing in Albuquerque.
What are the hotels closest to the Bowling Center?
I am also hoping to bowl in the Bowler's Journal event or 40 framer depending on timing.
Oh yeah. Did you drop in at the Hammer Booth? Any interesting deals? Perhaps I will get the Psycho while I am out there.
Thanks.

Havnt played golf yet. We are playing UofNM on Sunday.
Brackets didnt treat me too well. I didnt get in them for singles doubles only team. I got knocked out of a bunch by 10 pins or less because of a bad second game (180 something). There are alot of bracket choices though. Including a reverse order and second chance.
my 1800 did get me a bronze keyfob and something else, not sure.
As far as side tourneys. Skip the 40 frame game and the bowlers journal. The 40 framer will take 1150 to make the sheet, and you wont make much even hitting all the paydays. The BJ isnt very good. The BTM would be better, but plan on playing very deep.
There were a couple of deals at the Hammer booth. $90 for a Toxic, BV, a little more for the Doom. I get my stuff for cost so i really didnt pay attn to prices. The Brunswick booth had a lot of used equipment too. They did have some emeralds there too. and some nice shirts. I picked up a black and orange mock and a red white and blue mock.

You'll love the UofM course. The greens were absolutely smokin fast in March. I imagine they are even faster now. I'm not sure if you've played there before, but #10 hit your driver about 10-15 yards right of the inside edge of the corner. You'll end up about 80 yards from the green(assuming you normally drive the ball at least 240).
I shot a crappy 96, hope you do better than I did. But, I did birdie the 230 yard Par 3, hit a 3wood 4 ft!
Good luck.

They have flipped the front and back nine now. The back nine is now the old front nine so its 18 that your talking about driving.
I didnt play very well at either course but shot 92 at Isleta and 89 at UofNM. Greens were somewhat slow and lumpy from being errated recently but the rest of the course was in great shape and the GPS unit was sweet.

I will be out there the same time. We bowl Team Sunday the 29th on the late Team Squad. Bowl D/S at 5:30 on the 30th I believe we are on lanes 1-5 for D/S dont recall the team pair. Arriving in ABQ on Friday.
We tweeked the pattern and from what everyone that has been to ABQ says it is close. We added 2ft to the buff and 2 ft on the return pass.

I bowled nationals last month. I stayed at the DoubleTree Hotel in downtown ABQ (exit 235, then about a mile west on Lomas to Marquette Avenue). It's only about a block from the Convention Center. It was $109/night, but it beat having to take a shuttle or fight I-25/I-40 traffic.
They also have "reverse" brackets this year. Instead of using game 1/2/3 in that order, you use game 3/2/1 for the bracket you are placed into. It's $10 a bracket. I got 2nd in a couple of team reverse brackets but hosed myself in regular team brackets that way because I started off so bad in team with 4 splits the first game.
For the nationals shot, I used my BWB (OOB with PIN under ring finger, MB 3 1/2 inches right of thumbhole) inside to start but the reaction was spotty...it'd hook early and go through the nose or it would hook late and come in light. Once the carry down ensued and my team bowled through the same line to break the pattern down during the first game, we all bowled better the 2nd/3rd game of team.
Singles and Doubles is another story though. By the time singles came around, it was almost as dry as a THS. Of course, I scored better because I had more area to play with. I ended up with 526 team, 631 doubles (with partner we shot 1202), and singles 646, 1803 total. Nothing spectacular...high game was 237, low game was 127 (the 1st team game with my 4 nasty splits)...luckily, that was one of my reverse brackets...I got 2nd in two of them...stupid 127. :D
I didn't bowl the 40 frame game, BJ or BTM. I have a friend that lives in ABQ and I did stuff with her instead. But anyway, ABQ is a fun place. You need to try Tucanos Brazilian Grill which is about 3 blocks from the convention center...awesome food, but go during lunch and not dinner. And, if you like bars, you definitely need to visit The Library...that's a fun little place to hang out. :D
