I would say get more knee bend at both the beginning of your approach and at the line, this should help you follow through better and get down more with the lane to get more accurate.

I would also say, make sure your thumb gets out clean. It looked to me that the ball skidded a long way before rolling

the new style is much better than the old. looks a lot more fluid and a lot less muscled and forced. stick with it.

All of you are right having hard time clearing the thumb. Went bowling today and bowled one game old style a 169 with 3 gutters and a 1 pin frame. Lane had alot of oil on the side and dry on front. Then practiced the new style and bowled in 140's 3 games then tried to go back to old style and oh man a 97 Dang

Whats the possibility of being able to bowl both styles profecintly? I love and feel comfortable old style shooting strikes and can average 4 to 5 a game this way, but shooting spares the new way is deadly and am getting alot more pick ups with out the big hook.

If you are having a hard time clearing your thumb, you might have the same problem that I am having. I have been told that I don't have enough forward pitch in my ball, which is causing me to put the Kung Fu grip on my ball and hold on for dear life.

Try doing what I did as a test last night... Don't squeeze with the thumb no matter how awkward that it feels. Go into your backswing and if what happened to me happens to you then you might need your ball redrilled: see video link below.

btw: it happened to me three times in a row before I gave up on relaxing my hand.

Uh...before you get that thumbhole redrilled...that ball in the video has too much forward pitch. You want reverse pitch if you're dropping it or putting The Death Grip on the ball.

Are you saying I need reverse pitch on the thumb or my fingers?

I believe I have 3/16" reverse pitch on my thumb already.

Depends on whats already there as far as the fingerholes go. I drill mine straight up and save the reverse pitch for the thumbhole. But I have really long fingers,so I get a little extra leverage there. I'm drilling my thumbs with a 1/4" reverse and I'm not trying to "grip" the ball at all. I just let centrifugal force pull the ball off my thumb at release. With the fingerholes being striaght up,I can spin the ball as hard as I want without worrying about a pull.

Reverse pitch causes the "death grip" not forward pitch. Forward pitch makes you stay in the ball without having to squeeze longer, when you have too much forward pitch you get hung up in the ball.
