well...here it is..I used to do like a mutilated 4 step I think, now I'm a 3 stepper.

Note about the 3 step: The video's I have I was close to the lane trying to reduce amount of area the ball had to break so my first step is a speed step, I'm just picking it up and setting it down. The follow through is rather stiff looking, I needed more tape.

4 step or something (old BWS 4x4)

The funny thing about these two videos is the amount of rev I have on my shot, the 3 step has made my timing so much better that my revs are almost double what they are in the video with the BWS. The 3 step video is actually on a lightly used shot (only 2 games I think), the BWS video is on burned out lanes entirely.

heheh, yeah you dont see many people throwing 3 step. Next chance I get to go bowling I'm going to film again, this time with white tape, although mine is conspicuously missing.

I used to use three steps from the back dots!

But since I thought my self 4 steps my timing is way better. Your first step is very short in your three step approach and it was even shorter in your 4 step.

I'm no coach but to me it looks like both approaches are really just a 2 step mechanics thing. If I where to assimilate you I say move back 2-4 feet and take a real step to start. Actually move back to 4 steps and take a real second step...

your release was much better with the 4 step. You loft it and come around it more with the shorter approach.

I needed to step back, I know, but a big part of my problem that I just noticed is the speed of my approach, much faster than when I'm bowling good.

My release is a work in progress honestly, and the shots I taped werent my best, I've been working on getting down to the lane more, but my legs are hurting worse lately, so I've lofted the ball much more. After surgery I'm hoping some of the pain will go away, not all will because I have tendinitis in that knee, but the metal will be gone. And my release had a fair amount of gripping last night...I needed tape bad, after a few games I just started two handing the ball some and working on spares with plastic.
