I have found for me something heavy load particle whith an early roll layout and negative side weight seams to work best. I have a vicious particle [green/yellow] sanded to 500gr. that seams to work pretty well for me. I have high ball speed and a lot of axis rotation so heavy oil is tough no matter what ball I try to use. Heard the big blue should be a good oil ball but don't know any one who has used one yet.Power diesel might be worth looking into, have your ball driller sand it to 500 or even 360 to get some more traction. Ebonite has the V-2 strong, real good oil ball. Storm Fear Factor is supposed to be good in a puddle as well. I had one and didn't like it much :( think it was probably the way I layed it out though. Good luck if you Bowl in a swamp. [you never realize how important friction is on a lane till it's gone, or in the wrong places.]

Key elements on ball reaction.
1. Coverstock and Surface preparation- 60%
2. Weight Block/Core design- 20%
3. Dynamic Balance- 10%
4. Balance Holes- 5%
5. Mass Bias- 3%
6. Static Weights- 2%
1. In your case you want a Stong Coverstock-high or medium load Particle. In surface prep you want a dull/sanded surface 320-600 grit.
2. You want a ball with a Low RG (2.43-2.50) and a High/Med Diff. (.39-.80).
3. When you have your ball drilled the strongest layout pattern you can have is called the "Stacked Leverage" layout= 3 3/8" X 3 3/8" from PAP. The proshop guys will know.
4. Strongest balance is also 3 3/8" below the PAP on its vertical axis.
5. and 6. Aren't very important.
WARNING: If this ball hits any dry or you throw too slow it will roll out or overhook on you!
If you would like me to just pick a ball for you, assuming Hammer? Their best balls for this situation are all discontinued for some reason, but you can still find them all over the web and in proshops. Here's a good site.

1. Diesel Particle (discontinued)
2. Vicious Particle (discontinued)
3. Sharp Blade (still manufactured)
4. Big Block Diesel (still manufactured)

Depends on what type of reaction you are looking for. If you want continuous hook on the lane, then get a heavy-load particle like the Diesel Particle or Vicious Particle. If you want to go long and snap hard, you can't go wrong with the Big Block Diesel.

Yeah, just got myself a Diesel Particle last week, had it drilled an hour before we started our league, haven't bowled all summer and I came out the box, with a bad back and all, 232 208...
its an AWESOME ball, I'm deeply in love with this thing lol. If my back wasn't hurting and my movement wasn't limited lord knows what I could have done

Hawgzilla baby.
Maybe some one can dig this thread up again in twenty years and they can discuss the best ball for hover-bowling in heavy oil clouds!

We'd have to use our Marty McFly hoverboards!

seems like lane conditions defer thruout the world. From my part, pple with a decent rev will be looking for dry lane balls. And there's lotsa players who use the "helicopter aka spinner" style of bowling... for us heavy is something like Ur med oil at best. and most house shots get oil only @ the first 35-37 feet. also some houses use inside dry outside wet patterns.... tsk. or maybe it's due to the fact that there's lotsa spinners around. if it's any wetter during a league, U'd see lotsa full rollers
