Right now I dont have a spare ball, just the 2 balls in my sig, but I plan on getting the Tuff around Christmas time. I throw 16lb balls with the 2 I have, what do you guys recommend for the Tuff, basically just a 10 pin ball? I was thinking 16lbs, but I might get like a 14lb just for a hard 10 pin shot. Any suggestions are welcomed, thanks.

I have a TUFF and use it for 2 things,,,,,spares on either corner and as my primary ball on an "Exxon Valdez" oil condition where none of my other balls will work in any fashion.
I would advise sticking with the same weight as your' other balls, I personally think using weights of that difference could throw off your' timing & accuracy

I use the tuff for basicallly the ten pin .I would not lower the weight of your ball either because like jedi47 said it could throw off your timing;)

I actually had the hardest time picking up the 10pin awhile back. Used a reactive resin ball and couldnt get it. So I borrowed my sister-in-laws 12lb Ebonite plastic ball. I usually get the 10pin 8 out of 10 times with her ball, but like others have said, I think it messes up my timing and accuracy. When I miss, I'm way off, and 3 out of those 8 I do get I come real close to missing. About using a strike ball, a couple weeks ago I was bowling in the 220's and left the 10pin on my last shot in the 10th frame, and usually my brother will hand me the Ebonite plastic ball out of my bag, I keep it there because I usually dont leave the 10pin that often. Anyways I told him to leave it there and I whipped my Hawg Zilla down lane and got the 10pin dead on. If you can throw hard and pretty much straight if need be, go for it, if not get a plastic ball.

Might be a little late to offer my advice, but I would go at least one pound lighter. All of my stuff is 16, except for my spare ball, which is 15. It gives me a little more power on those hard to pick up splits. I would not go any lighter than that, then control becomes an issue.
Good luck!

This is in response to #1 Hawgzilla owner. I too do not use a spareball. I use the "break wrist" theory for the 10-pin and hit at 3 out of 4 times and slow down my ball speed for the left side spares. I do have a 3-ball arsenal (Hi Rev, Road Hawg and B/W, all 15#) that I use this theory with. I dumped my Columbia 300 blue dot after I could not keep it on the lanes. Haha:cool:

Thanks for the advice guys. I usually throw the 12lb Columbia ball I'm borrowing from my sister-in-law pretty hard between the 1st arrow and gutter right at the 10pin with alittle spin on the ball so it dont scoot off the lane. I'll probably go with a 16lb Tuff, but if they dont have one in stock than I'll go with a 15lb, but no lower.

I throw a 16# White Dot (*gasp*) at my corner pins. I'd definately sitck with the same weight for spares. I had a 15# Crown jewel (*gasp*) for my corners, but I found that it altered my timing. It's time to check the turkey for doneness. Yum!
