For those who have been around for a while will know how much my late uncle wally was for me when it came to bowling, so for this season I decided to pay tribute to him by bowling the same way he did for for 60+ years: straight on from the middle arrow.

In his younger days he held down a 192 average, and up to his last season he was a 168 bowler dealing with many health problems and pain issues, but bowled through it and would pay for it the next day being in his favorite chair with ice bags on his knees all day, telling me how worth it is was with a smile on his face.

He and his wife only used brunswick equipment because it was made in the same town they was born in, and first started league bowling at the age of 16soon after the got married. It was in their 3rd season bowling when they met another married couple that was teamed up with them that season, and they remained a team for many many years up until my uncle passed away.

The day after my winter league ended, I went to the lanes to start trying it out and after the 4 games I got a copy of the scores, and noticed how my strikes started to go up from the 3-4 (sometimes less) that I would get from the 10 board. Would go to 5-6 and some times more per game, and I would start getting them either every other frame for in groups of 2's or 3's, and sometimes strike out the 10th frame as well.

Another thing I've noticed is how I'm getting alot of the single pin spares, which would typically be the 5 the 7 the 8 the 9 or the 10 pin. I use my BWP for the first 2 games, then bring in the twisted fury that was bought for me the 3rd game (uncle wally knew how loyal I was to Hammer, so he'd be happy knowing I was using brunswick for one game).

I even managed to get all 3 of my 200 games bowling this way, one with the brunswick ball, other 2 with the BWP including my high game.

Too bad he isn't here to see this happen himself, but I know he's up there talking about bowling and fishing with the rest of them.

Sin City. That's a heart warming thing to do. It may sound funny and childish but I got goose bumps when I read your story. I am sure he is looking down from above and smiling about what you have done. You will know he is when you shoot your highest series and game in the future. It's his way of thanking you for what you are doing.

Sin that is awesome!

Can I make a suggestion. Seeing as you are only throwing strait balls, in tribute to your uncle. Maybe you should only throw the twisted. This would be an ultimate tribute and since you are throwing strait their is no hook diffrence. This way you put less wear and tear on your hammers and they will be ready to rock next year. You will have honored your uncle and could retire that ball on the mantel next year.

But either way if you throw strait all year, your Uncle Wally will have made you a better bowler! Your spare acyracy will be awesome, and I bet next year your average will be up 20 pins.

Congrats on the great scores, I'm sure you uncle is proud.

I gonna agree with Can, on this one. Keep up with the maintaince of the Fury, so it's in good condition when it retired. Wouldn't want a nasty looking piece if you retire it as a show piece.
