I have been buying 14 lb balls since my return to bowling about 4 years ago. As I update my bowling aresenal, will I notice a signifcant difference between 14 and 15 lbs?

I've liked 14 lbs. and I'm not convinced I should add the pound, but thought I'd ask before I make any upcoming purchases (considering the Razyr and the Psycho to replace my blue/gold Scout and Brown Titanium messenger which is my current benchmark ball).

I've thrown my gf's 14lb'ers and had my own 14lb'ers 2 years ago and there isnt much difference except there is a little more diflection with the 14lb'ers than with 15's. probably because of the higher speed with it, the 15's drive more than the 14's but it really isnt much, you should lose revs going from 14 to 15 because I gained a lot going from 15 to 14... and if your happy with the 14's and happy with the carry and reaction and feel then I wouldnt change a thing.

Keep it simple. I agree with IDLE. If the 14's are working for ya, don't change. Old wise one once said " If it aint broke..don't fix it.":D

I also must agree with Idlehour. I switched to 14# over 8 years ago because of wrist problems. You will see more deflection so you will have to up your speed just a little and possibly even increase the entry angle. The one other thing I found that I had to hit just a little higher on the head pin. (about 1" or so) I must also keep my speed up between 17 and 18 mph. If I get below 16.5 there is greater deflection and thus lack of good carry which can result in some awful splits.

In his book "Winning Bowling" Earl Anthony talks about this. He goes on to say that extensive testing was done with the 14# ball and it would carry as well as a 16# ball but you needed a little more angle. I am wondering if there has been anything written on just how much the deflection changes with a 14# ball?

Personally, I'd stick with 14 if you like them. They're easier to rev than a 15 and easier on your wrist, the carry difference between a 14, 15 and 16 isnt noticable anymore.

Most ball between 14#, 15# and 16# have the same core... the RG and Diff's may vary some, but your still getting the core designed the specific ball.

Honestly if your carrying on worries, 14# will allow you to bowl longer, with less fatigue.

The added weight could mess with timing, as well.

I'm going to leave it alone. If it ain't broke, don't fix it passed the laugh test for me.

I'm getting an equipment fascination. This isn't good. Or it could be good, but expensive.

14's are fine as long as you don't mind leaving stone 8's a couple of times a game. 9's if you're a lefty.

Once you make your decision stick with it and put it to rest. I have half 14 and half 15, but have bounced between the two.

My first three balls where 14 then I bought two 15s and last year bought a 14
NMB. Honestly once I went to 15 I wish I would have stayed there bought the Beat'n in 15. I do find at time 14's don't carry as well. It also depends if you are trying to muscle the ball or use a free swing as the lighter balls are easier to force.

I'm in the process of switching to all 15...
