I've been around along time and I've never seen such a hype about this layout. I was thinking about buying a ball just to drill it up RICO style. What do you guys think of this?? All my kids that I coach want to ask me what I think anf I honestly can't answer them. I've done a little research but not much. What's the purpose, positive thoughts, negatives, etc.:)

ok from what I have read about this layout it is a layout mainly to try to take the conditions out of the equation, its a very even reacting ball, it works great on wet/dry. I havent tried one so really cant give positive or negative,I know a lot of guys on here have them so Im sure they can.

I have a Rico'd Scout and from what I've seen on my ball and other people's balls, it makes them react much more predictably. The carry will suffer if you go with a low end ball, carry is really based on how aggressive the cover is because this drill will seriously kill the flare on a ball.

That's what I thought. The (little) research I have done states the same thing. I am going to buy another (Widow Solid or Pearl) and drill it up RICO style.:D

Would go with the solid myself, pearl just is too squirty OOB, the solid should work very nicely I would think.

ACTUALLY the pearl with rico should smooth it out and make it less squirty

Actually I'd go with the Solid, more aggressive covers are better, if you got the Pearl and did it, you'd need to mess with the cover some. I'd say go with the Solid, it is smoother and it will carry better. The Bite would be a pretty good choice too.
Out of all the stuff Hammer has, I'd take the Anger and Rico it personally, it would carry like a monster.

The RICO on the Pearl really tames down the reaction. The Pearl is not squirty for everyone, it was for me. I really did not like mine.

Gonna agree.

Honestly everyone that I know who has placed a RICO Layout on the ball and has liked the reaction has used a Skid-Flip from what I've seen.
Blue did a Doom and liked it alot, personally I would not use a Anger for this layout. It's already smooth, compared to average Hammer. It might work but it would be very condition specific. Compared say to the Doom or maybe the Psycho.
Th "RICO" is used for tougher conditions to get the ball to roll. It also worked well on Wet-Dry, Over-Under type of lane conditions. Heard it can be used on Heavier Condition but that would be some what dependent on the actually ball. Don't think you can RICO and low end ball and expect it be great on Heavy Oil.

We're gonna have to agree to disagree on this Tenpin, the best Rico ball I have ever seen is a Fury (solid).
Really the ball motion will not change too much Rico ball to Rico ball, but carry will be the biggest difference.

ok guys,
I'm looking at an emerald vibe to RICO. my span is 4.75 so I need to have 2.375" pin to cg. COrrect??

a longer pin like that will make the ball easier to Rico, but my Rico'd scout has a short pin

from my exp. with rico it is for people who have a lot of hand in the ball and hook it a hole lot it really doesnt move much on wet or dry lanes thats why peole love it very consitant use my secret agent on shark and shot 589 not to bad considering thats the only time i have ever thrown on a pba pattern really evens the playing field!

I have a Track Xception drilled with a RICO variation. I have to admit, this is the strongest that I have ever seen this ball on the back. The continuation is great through the pin deck. I have a video up of my RICO variation Xception if anyone wants to take a look at on youtube.

The ball is very smooth throughout the entire lane, and I specifically look at using the ball when I am looking at too much wet/dry around the break. It smooths out the reaction, but it doesn't suffer in an sort of carry.
In case you were wondering, the Xception was a high end ball from Track about 3-4 years back.

the pin on that exception is a little high? guess it differs between balls and spans? i guess. or i think there is a couple of variations of rico. yeah the agent is a little jumpy but the secret agent is as smooth as it gets

well u have to raise the pin a little if ur a high tracker to keep from clipping the finger holes.

Yes on the RICO drill you want a Pin around 1/2 of your span.

When I get back I'm throwing Viper in my PBAex league, and I think I'm going to use my Rico'd Scout on it, I threw it for a few shots during prebowl and it moves enough and predictably (not to mention it carries which it normally doesnt on oil)

Just picked up the Rico EV today. Used it on fresh ( less than 10 minutes) heavy oil @ Nutmeg bowl in Fairfield CT. I took me a game to get the correct spot on the approach and speed adjustment but once dialed in reeled of 5 in a row before the kid's kicked me off so they could play with their new toys.. Whch is a whole nother story....
