Anyone knows how you can train your timing release (near the ankle) at home ?

just by repetitions, going thru your approach with no ball in your hand and doing it slowly and paying attention to where your body is with each step. also, try practicing with a small nerf football in your bowling hand and try throwing and underhanded spiral which will help you get a good feel for a proper release. hope this helps.

I've been trying to practice my new release/free swing/test new grip(s) at home a bunch over the last two months.
Get a football and line something to throw it into. With this I practice my full 4 steps then follow through with a underhand spiral. Usually in to couch or chair but still pick some thing small to aim at.
I've set up some pillows to throw my ball into on a carpeted floor. For this I do a one step approach (or a 4 but there is no slide). However, you do get a feel for releasing the ball.Good luck!

While I don't recommend this if you're married,I have done this when I was single. If you have a hallway off the kitchen where you live, lay down a wood floor and polish the snot out of it,so you can slide. They have some stuff at Home Depot that works well and is easy to put down. I actually used old approach boards and redid the kitchen floor and hallway. Found some industrial rubber baseboards that were about a foot tall and put those down the sides of the hall for errant shots. Pile up a bunch of cushions at the other end at you're all set. When I moved out of that place the new tenants where so happy about the wood floor but couldn't figure out what the arrows in the hallway were for.

suggestions:
football; thanks will try that.
floor: tried that some months ago on normal floor, the ball didn't like it some much as there are now some "pinche holes" in. among other things I missed a strike and the ball went againt the oven.
I know Rowdy is a genius, I am just not such a fanatic yet to have a bowling alley at my home yet.
Did read on a news site once that x superstar had his own 1 lane bowling alley at home though.

Home??? Most of them OWN bowling centers. They don't need a lane at the house, they own a house full of 'em.:)
Good thing too. I'd be too damn lazy to oil my own lane. All I'd lay down anyway would be some easy THS so I could roll out of bed and shoot a 300 to start the day.

Hey,a wood floor is a wood floor. And approach/lane wood is tongue and groove, just like the expensive stuff. It's thick,so none of that cheesy flexing like Pergo does. Plus it lays flat as long as you put all the boards back where they came from on the lane. The color is nice,it goes with any decor in the kitchen. Just be careful walking on it wearing socks.
And the stuff can be had cheap if you keep your eyes open.

This by far is the best post I have read, the football thing is cool. when I was a kid I would roll softball at glue bottles down in the basement on a concret floot. I was only 8 or 9 at the time, was cool the softball would hook, I had a hump in the floor and i could spin the ball it would get to the hump slow down and turn left to the glue bottles. lol
