EWWWW!! Who wants to swing the ball 40 boards? Thats so, ewww.

Ok the ball moves alot. What they failed to show was, what was the condition. THS ? Bone dry outside 13 ? or just plain bone dry . Mayube I missed something but it didn't show in that video. They won't show you what it would do on a Shark or US Open pattern or the TOC pattern.

Rowdy
08-21-2008, 12:41 PM
Let's see....the ball is drilled up way strong and they're rolling it on some older looking wood lanes,so that accounts for all the hook. And it only has about 15 boards of hook, not 40. 40 would have dumped it in the lefthand ditch before the pins.

That would be a cool ball to throw if you were looking to intimidate someone though. There are lot of guys who would take one look at you snapping off that big hook and just give it up for the night.

BubbaRay

Not saying I do this, but it would be a great way to play mind games with your opponent. During practice, you throw the first ball which would be this one. Now he sees how much hook it had and say comming off the approach, " Man re these lanes Dry tonight" . Now you have his brain thinking about changing balls before he even starts.:D

BigDog

Gee, the ball can swing 39 boards - that's nice.

Give me a ball that will hit like a (er, well) HAMMER, and you'll impress me. It looks like the shots were not hitting the pocket very hard at all.

I threw my BWB from 12-6 (11 boards of hook into the pocket, right?) last night on the THS kool-aid (before PBAx), and I sent pins flying around the pin deck - it was a beautiful thing to see. I had a couple ringing 10s, but I moved back about 6", and I was hammerin' again :D

Give me what ever will carry the best on a given day...

Throw your normal ball for a couple of shots, walk back muttering,"Dry,very dry",Pull that 900 out of the bag and start pounding away!!! See the confused looks of the other guys. Win big. I love it.:)

And I would do it in a heartbeat. All's fair out on the lanes.

That one only works until the guy takes a practice shot. Then the jig is up.

But getting them to make a ball or line change, now that will do some damage to the score for awhile. And the psyche.

Some people are so easy to screw with it's almost comical.

yea and pro shops up prices of balls anyways. the one pro shop is selling all of the widows for 180+ and the other still has the complete nv at 230  i feel bad for anyone who buys any ball from either shop. those prices are a blatant crime and i hope neither do business

I personally wouldnt want any of those balls. That shot that they throw on up at Buddies for the videos is like a train track, hit between here { and } and you strike dead flush, but theres 4 more boards on each side to hit light mind you. Just seems like cake to me. I agree with Rowdy there.

True, but you'll be the only one rolling that ball. How much is not being part of the herd worth to you??? Remember back when Hammer was an "off the beaten path" ball company??? How many guys said they bought thier first Hammer because they didn't want a "cookie cutter" ball from a company like Brunswick??? If I remember right,Hammer was considered to be a "pricey" ball back then too. What goes around, comes around.

Dunno about you, but the prices hes saying are like 80$ more than I pay for my high end stuff, so I dont know if those prices are true or not but if they are thats rediculous, if thats normal for you then I would find a new pro shop if I were you.

It really depends on the region and area your in. K & K sells balls for retail all day long. We would go broke around here if we tried that. Most of our high end stuff around here sells for 199 drilled. grips and slugs extra.

Almost everything in Boston is expensive. Tenpin bowling is second fiddle to candlepin so there aren't enough pro shops to force competitive prices. High end balls from companies that are popular here sell at a good price. For reference, last season the No Mercy line sold for 210, Black Widows 199, Raw Hammer 159 and Vibes 129. Companies that don't sell a lot are closer to retail.

Only depends on the store you go to or casino for that matter. For instance, there's only a few places that sell Hammer out here, and if you go to texas station casino (like I was orginally going to do), they was charging 245.00 for the BW back when it came out and wanted to charge another 45.00 for inserts and drilling. I guess the cost of over head at that time was just terrible.

I found K & K bowling later that night after I put in my order at texas station and saw they was not only cheaper in cost, but a hell of a lot nicer and patient with questions that I had. And for the cost of the texas station BW/inserts/drilling and tax, I got all that bowling shoes and a wrist brace for the same cost.

And I have never bought from any other place since.

I haven't found another place that compares to K&K overall for service or quality, and they also expanded to the coast casino's which is really cool as well, so now I wont have any further sanding problems like I did at the orleans old pro shop before.
