So I just ordered my first ball spinner thanks to my tax free paychecks rotting in the desert and I would like to ask a few questions about some cover adjustments.

Here is my current arsenal: (All out of box finish)

Black Widow Spare
Brunswick Sidewinder
Black Widow Pearl
Black Widow Solid
Black Widow Venom
Black Widow Bite
Roto Grip Cell

Now, I am not looking to adjust all the covers, (I haven’t been able to use the Venom yet) but what are your experiences with cover changes on these balls? I was thinking about taking the Pearl down to 2000 with polish. I believe I had read on here about a lot of people doing this and loving it.

I really want to change the Bite up because it is not working for me out of box. It isn’t very consistent at all for me. I was thinking about taking it to 1000 polished or 2000.

I just got the Solid right before I left for the desert and only put 3 games on it. I was really happy with the ball so I don’t think I will mess with this one. I tried looking up the out of box finish but I had no luck finding it.

Like I said earlier, I haven’t had a chance to drill the Venom up yet. This will happen after the wife and I get reacquainted…lol. I am just looking for suggestions.

A bit of info on my bowling style – I am a lefty stroker. 16-18 mph.

The Pearl and Solid are drilled the exact same way. (#1 on drill sheet, medium track) (I may drill the Venom like this also)

The Bite is the #3 drill medium track

Also, using polish on the spinner…How much do you use? Even if I decide to keep the Pearl at 4000, it is due for a re-finish.

Thanks in advance for the help!

you'll definately like the BWP better at 2000 Polished, it reacts much better and more predictable. looking at getting a spinner myself sometime soon.

Yeah I think the Pearl... probably gonna best at 2000 with or without polish.

My Bite is at 1200, I use Gold Scotch Brite. Honestly I like the thing at 4000 as well. The Part Number is 7745, it can be found on-line or local paint shops.

So if I take the BWP down to 2000 will it react similar to the BWS at 4000? Also, i haven't been able to find anything on how much polish to use....Just a few small dabs on each side? I am sure there is a lot of info on the web, but I am unable to access it due to the internet filters.

Just use a little, you can always add more. Every Polish is different, so each will take different amounts to accomplish your goal.

The Pearl is or was pretty squirty at the break point for some, so dulling the surface gives it a more consistent reaction at the break point. Everyone is different and there is no one surface that will be great for us all. So try a few things and you'll find out what you like.
