Me and my boss were trying to work things out because I can't work on the weekends during the day and a couple days during the week. I could have worked Mondays, Wednesdays, and Sundays. My boss originally said that she could just put me on Sundays. That was fine with me because I have the other job and I'd be making enough for leagues, bills, etc. About a week after we got that taken care of she tells me that she is only gonna have me work one Sunday and that is it (which is tomorrow) and that she will just have my name and number on the schedule so that if anyone needs someone to work for them I would get called first. I said ok that's fine. Fall/Winter Schedule gets put up and my name and number are no where to be found. I find this out tonight. Of course my boss wasn't in. I can't go bowling in two or three leagues, pay bills, and other stuff only working 18 hours a week at my other job. Next time I see her in there I'm gonna have a nice chat with her. If I find out that I got laid off when I can still work...... I WILL BLOW!!!!!!!!

Welcome to the real world. You just talked yourself out of a job. And you didn't get laid off either. You fired yourself.

One thing I'm not getting here, first you said it was no problem to work only one day a week. The other job paid for everything. Then later on in the post you're complaining that you can't make ends meet if you lose the one day a week job. Which is it???

I meant I could get by just working the two days at one job and the one day at the other.

Well,if you're looking for someone to blow off steam at,check out the closest mirror. Never, ever, never tell 'em when you can't work, except when you're interviewing for the job. It's one thing to tell 'em that you need a couple of nights off to roll in some leagues, but when you add the weekend days in you made yourself expendable. It's far easier for them to hire someone who CAN work all the time then to have to deal with someone who WON'T work most of the time.

In case you missed the bullet hole I was just pointing out the fact that you shot yourself in the foot, that's all.

It never ceases to amaze people my age that people your age will do that and not have a clue as to what happened.

Here, let's try this: You as an employee incur expenses to your employer no matter how many hours you do or don't work every week. There's Workers Comp that they pay for you,Unemployment benefits, whatever thier payroll company charges per employee to do your check, etc. Now,how do they justify paying those costs for someone who doesn't work very many hours??? They don't. They hire someone else who can work more hours and make the cost of all that bearable to them.

In other words, one full time employee or a part timer who will work 35-38 hours a week is a better deal for the employer than 2 or 3 employees who can only work a day or two a week.

Now do you get it???
