A friend of mine got himself a no mercy and he can't keep it on the lanes. I was wondering what I could tell him to do to the ball so he could feel comfortable throwing the ball. Maybe polish, changing the grit etc.. Any suggestions will be very welcome. The drill on the ball looks as though a lefty is throwing it. The pin is above and in the middle of the fingers, the cg is about 1/2 inch left of the center line and mb is 1 inch left of the thumb. He is a right hander. Thanks in advance for all your help.

First how are the lane conditions? Are they fry, med dry, med oily, heavy oily. Sounds to be like he's throwing it on a dry or med dry condition. If that is the case, the NM will hook alot . He could try applying some extender polish to the ball to get it to skid more down the lane. If it still hooks like you describe , that is not the ball to use on the condition the lanes are applying.

I agree with Bubba here, try the extender polish but using a different ball (if he has one) would be the best plan on these lanes. As for the drilling, hes right handed which means he tracks on the left side of the finger/thumb holes, so the hart is supposed to be on the first or third track line(if drilled right, but there are other drillings) so thats why its on the left side of the ball.

Thanks bubba,I will let him know. He is a guy that won't spend the monies to get something the is more suited to his game. He went to a sale at the local shop and saw this hammer ball and thought that he got a bargain, now that he doesn't know how to use it he is going to think someone stuffed him. Again, thanks a lot Bubba. The conditions we bowl on are more on the med/dry side.

If the conditions are on the Med/dry side this may be just too much ball. He can try the extender polish and see if that helps. Or he can change his axis ritation and put alittle less hand in the ball.

The Hart is not a the samething as Mass Bias, the Hart is the intermediate differential. Sounds like he has a strong drill on the ball which is good, some drillers get that wrong.
Yes polishing the ball with regular polish is going to make a big difference in the ball from my experience. If the ball does not roll up early for him dull it down to 1000 or 2000 and polish.
This ball is a dry lane ball.

Define,"Can't keep it on the lane."
You know there's no mass bias mark on a NM ball, right. That's the HART and it's right where it should be.

This guy is a 200 adverage bowler and with the no mercy he can't make the ball stay in the pocket or make spares with it. We have been talling him he has to make some adjustments but he says not. He has the same drill on a morich ball and won't change. I am only trying to help that situation get better for him. Even though I know if he won't change somewhat he has a good boat anchor. I didn't want to start a controversy over something that is beyond my control. Like Bubba said the lane conditions aren't right for this ball for my friend,I was just trying to help him get some use out of the ball he just bought. I will try the polish first and if that doesn't work I will get him to get the ball sanded to 2000 grit and then polish and if it doesn't work after that I will suggest that he cut hte ball in half and make bookend out of it since he won't change his line to the pocket. As I said before Thank You all for your advise,I really appreciate it very much.

So I guess walking up to him on the approach and shoving him over to the left some is out of the question???:)

ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!!!!!!! That is the big problem,he kept saying that he wanted a ball with a litte snap on the backend. He got more snap than he bargained for. For this guy a green/blue centaur would have been the better ball choice.
Again guys thanks for your info,I am going to try to straighten his hook monster because it's not him it's the ball.

My friend.....I just got mind drilled and this ball needs to be in the oil. Tell him be one with the oil, not without the oil and everything will be fine. Move inside and play way in, throw and watch it hook A LOT.
I need to get a ring finger insert changed because it doesnt fit, and until then I cant make a really fair assessment of the ball, but I know this thing still outhooks everything else I have.

Well the polish helped my friend to make an honest effort to learn how to bowl with the No Mercy. He even talked about moving left on the approach. The next problem he has is not cleaning it. When I went to put the polish on it was cruddy. I think that with his maintenance habbits,in about 3months it should be a relative straight ball and he can move back to his orignal line. I would like to thank all you guys that offered help with the problem. 5iron
