Been too inconsistant for my taste thus far this league season. I've been working on my base at the delivery for quite awhile and it appears it has gotten sloppy again.

I have this tendency to left my left hip slide left and my right hip rotate back. It causes me to hit up on the ball and creates a very crappy ball reaction, not to mention less accuracy and carry.

So, with those thoughts, I'm going to practice a one step(slide) approach today before league. I've received coaching all my life, but never have I tried one step and release. Obviously, I won't be doing this during league, but I think it will help me create a the feel for the correct position at the line.

Thoughts?

Good technique.
That's one of the routines I use with the beginners in league.
To take that one step further ( or one step less ). Position your body in the orientation you want at your release, get your arm swinging some and execute the release. We dont concentrate on where the ball goes, or speed, it's the feel of the thumb releasing first, then the fingers, left knee bent, and right foot at least in back of the left foot.

Work backwards from there adding more motion...

IMO at this point if your feeling sloppy then trying it should not make it any worse. Give it a shot. Don't worry about pin count just be sure your body is where it needs to be. Then roll a full or maybe even 1/2 a game using your full approach before league starts.

Oh back in the day (about 20 years ago) I used to use a 3 step all the time...
