Have been in a slump this year. Ave 217 and 202 last year in two different houses. Right now I have a 205 and 184. Went into last night feeling good but came out shooting a 465 at the 185 house. Ouch... Nothing seems right.
End of last year and the summer I took a couple of lessons as my game was going well but I wanted to take it to the next level. Thinking that maybe a couch could see something that I could do to improve my game. I have changed the timing on my arm swing making it later. Coach said it was coming down way before I was on my last step. I was also coming around the ball and hitting up on it. Now I don't know if I should just go back to what was working last year.

Need Help? I'm thinking about taking another lesson with another coach just for some different feedback.

Just remember that when you change things, they always get worse before they get better.

Yep I agree!

Another thing you could do is drink heavily while bowling, lol.

I understand that and was prepared for that. I just thought I was beyond that point.. When I first made the change in my timing and release it felt very awkward and I didn't bowl well for the next week or so. I wasn't able to hit a mark for a while after the change. My whole thing was that I was having trouble with the ball hooking on oil. The change in timing and release definately helped that but now I think that is what my main problem is. Everything is just moving too early but when I move left and swing it a bit the ball is not making it back.

Relax and do the basics. Throw the good shot and let the ball do its' thing.Every time I get goofy I just concentrate on throwing the good shot.

I went and practiced a few games yesteday and worked on my timing and footwork. I changed the starting position of the ball and how I push it out (straight out instead or to the left) Coach had me start with the ball in the center of my chest and start pushing the ball slightly left so that It would straighten out my arm swing and prevent it from getting behind my back. What it did was make me drift left 5 or so boards. The direction I push off the ball is the direction my body wants to go. I also went back to starting the ball sooner. It felt like it made me release the ball farther past my ankle then recently but I was more consistant, sliding in the right spot, and my ball was getting down the lane and then hooking pretty good. This was at a house I never bowl at and was pretty oily.
I needed to build some confidence and it worked. Shot a 222, 208, and 238.

I think before I had more of a correct bowling timing and release but it wasn't allowing me to send the ball far enough right or the ball wasn't getting down the lane enough because I was throwing the ball "too well" or correctly. Just wasn't consistant . I used to send the ball right, coming out of the ball later and my body /mind would auto correct.. If I was sending the ball too right I would put more fingers in the ball and it would come back and if I tugged it I would take something off of it and it would hold. I guess I am just not that consitant and my old form allowed for that. I like to be in control when I release the ball and the new form (and my coach telling me this) was to get me into just making the movements and letting the ball do what it was going to do. I like making the ball do what it is going to do.
sorry this is long, I just wanted to put some stuff in there. If anyone has any feedback it would be great.
