throwing ball

okay i have watched many many videos of people bowling and most are doing what i call the big out and in shot i just throw down and in i might get a small arc once in a great while but no matter what i have tried i cant get my ball to go from say the 15-5 and back if i try to throw it out 15 to the 5 i might have it come back to the 7-9 boards i need help please.

Here's a post about creating more revs which is key to getting the ball to turn over like you want it to. You have to match the ball to the lane condition also.

well.. it all depends how they got em oiled on wednesday.. i can play down and in if i want.. i just like throwing it out more cuz u get more angle..

y does it matter stretch??? i bowl down and in on any thing i can physically do. if its dry then i wont but i find its a MUCH better line anyway as u can make easier adjustments and usually carry better IMO.

its good to be versatile thats why.

If you can only play straight then there might be times when that shot wont work and vice versa.

I play the swing as my comfort line and switch it up when i need to.

Yea its all about being versatile and being able to play any part of the lane at any time that it calls for it, if you can only play straight down and in comfortably but are not comfortable playing deep or playing a big line then your not going to be going anywhere, have to be very versatile and be able to play straight down and play the swing shot comfortably and confidently when the conditions call for each. I love hearing these people that say well I stand on 20 and throw down 10 and thats how I bowl or people that say I throw straight down and in, when people ask me that question I say I play whatever part of the lane that is given to me that day, you cannot possibly play any certain way all the time, especially the same boards with feet and target or you will struggle badly especially on anything harder.

I've never understood the fasicnation that bowlers have with that huge left to right and back left again shot. Must be an ego thing. You're basically asking the ball to make two turns and cover a ton of ground. It's hard on the body to torque it up that much,week after week. I've come to be a huge fan of an outside-in shot,less things to go wrong and it's way easier on the body.

i just feel more comfortable throwing over the 20 out to the 5 then back in than the outside in, but i will have to say Rowdy is right about less things can go wrong outside in, also less changes need to be made to fix the problem areas...

throw however you feel most comfortable with and give you most confidence tho...

Like i said mike. Depending on the oil i can throw a swing ball.. at my house which is the Carter place.. I stand on the 2nd to last dot and depending how the lanes are, i throw it to the 5 board or the 7 board or the 3 board and come back..

I prefer the down-and-in shot myself, I seem to be more consistent throwing that line. But when I do throw inside and swing it out, it seems like I have more room on that line and the carry isnt any worse (unless I pull it and it hangs in the oil and leaves a 10). I like to keep an eye on what everyone else is doing, most of my teammates throw a swing shot so if it looks like they have a nice line going I might move in there and join in the fun, otherwise I stay down and in as long as I can.
