Well I went to throw a few before work Thursday.
I was not going to shoot for scores I was going to work on slowing down my approach and such... I tried to start closer to the foul line so I would have to take smaller steps. If I get too quick I would foul. No help there. I moved back a little between the first and second set of dots.. Still not much luck.. I am not sure if I am slowing down too much or what but I feel way off balance.. (due to being out of time) first two games under 160 :(
I finally said F-IT... Went back to my normal speed then shot 203/198/217/208 Go Figure... My only guess I was slowing down too much and that was throwing me off balance but without video I dunno...
I need to get my wife to video me with the camera (picture camera) I will be buying a Real video camera after Christmas..

The first two games I wasn't about the score for the most part. Everything just felt wrong. So I just went back to my normal foot work. Even when working on something I would still like to bowl more than 175.
I have lways been a little quick on my feet. Since I am just getting back into bowling I figured now would be a good time to try to change that and slow down. Guess I was wrong.. LOL

If u have something that works, and u get the scores that are high and u like, dont chnage it, There is no one right way. BUt if u are working on something u still cant let the score affect u. JUst like those who want to practice spares, like the 7 or 10 pin, usually people will just thrown their first ball at the pins, and then use their second on the rest. Yeah the score will be lower but in the end u get more out of it.

Gotta go with pain on this one. The score is irrelavant when you're working on something. Roll for however long you need to figure it out and then put it all together and roll for score. But to keep track of scores while working something out will only cause you to press and pick up bad habits.

I agree, score is a non-issue when you're practicing. Its not a bad idea to throw a towel over the scoring monitor at the desk when youre practicing so you can't see it, and I can't speak for other houses but ours will turn TV on the overhead monitor if you ask, I use that so I can't see it either. It helps me out quite a bit, even when just open bowling and shooting regular games. Its a lot easier to put bad shots behind you if you can't look at the scoresheet and remind yourself of it. Its also helped me develop the habit of not looking at the scores during league so the pressure doesn't build so fast if I have a big game going. When I shot 290 last year, I had gotten into the routine of shooting then walking back and talking to my Dad until my next shot and I didn't even realize what I was going for until it was over. I learned a lot about how to not put pressure on yourself that night LOL.
