Have some coupons to spend after a nice Christmas gift so I was thinking of getting some new shoes. I currently have a pair of Dexter Magnums. Nice shoe but was thinking of upgrading.
Have my eye on the SST 7E's. Would anybody know when these shoes were released and if they were going to upgrade there line anytime soon. The SST 8's are nice but I like the look of the 7's better.

I have the SST 7's, I got them last September. I believe they were a new release around then. I have somewhere between 400-500 games on them and they've held up pretty well. The sole and heel are both coming apart a little bit (pad is peeling off the velcro backing, just need replacements, the velcro on the shoe is fine) but thats not surprising to me, I have never changed them so they've had a lot of use. The only thing I don't like about them is the toe is more of a square shape which I don't care for and I didn't notice until I got them but its not that bad I guess. One of my travel team bowlers got a pair of 8's yesterday, they are pretty sweet looking, much better in person than in the pictures in my opinion.

difference between the 7's and 8's
the 8's you can actually change both heel etc etc... not like the 7's where its designed for left or right handed...
the 7's werent as popular over here.. but the 8's have been a really great hit.

Gonna sound like a long time but heard that in June they are coming out with white SST 8's, these things look sweet. The 7's arent that popular here either. I have the SST 5 LX's which I like, the white 8's will probably be next.

Now I'm really confused. The 8's look a little too flashy but maybe your right and they look better in person. Let me do a little research and maybe I'll change my mind.

The SST7 was released 3/26/07
I am looking at them or the SST8's I like the look of the 7s but I saw the 8's in person at a alley here near my parents. They look better than the pictures.

I love those shoes, Although I have the Dyno-Thane version they have been a great shoe, very comfortable.

I believe Dyno-Thane went out of business? 3G just took them over and are still producing the same shoe? Atleast this is my understanding, please correct me if I am mistaken.

Ahhhh Gotcha...
I am about to pull the trigger but can not make up my mind the 3G Ultra or the Dexter SST8's
I wish I knew more about the 3g but there is really not much info out there on them.. I trust Bubba's word on they are a great shoe and the Dexters are a good shoe. But I have tried the Dexters on so I know how they feel...
Maybe I should just get the G3's
The only reason I am really leaning more to the SST8's is because I will have more slide options to pick from.

Both would be good shoes, ive owned 3 sets of Dexters before I bought my Dyno-Thanes, I found Dexters wore out a little to quick for me (Not saying for everyone, but for me they did), I've had the Dyno-Thanes for close to two years now with no issues and they are still as comfortable as I first put them on, I go through shoes fairly quickly too.

If Say you wear a 9.5 in Dexters (standard width) Would you also wear a 9.5 in the 3g?
In my linds Exxtra I use there are 4 discs in the sole I use two have the most slide the other two have the second to most slide. The heel has 3 discs I have one second to fastest and two of the rubber discs(next to last slide)
Not sure if you have ever used them but it may give ya a Idea on how much slide I like. I just don't want to get the 3g and not be able to get the slide right.

I use size 12 in both Dexter and the Dyno-Thanes so not really sure about the difference in their half sizes, id say the Dyno-Thanes / 3G fit better for me personally.
as for the soles and heel, I just tried them all and used the ones that felt best for my style. which isnt the most slide (2nd to most I believe)

Well that's it.. Screw it. If I don't like them I will send them back and get the Dexters... (before bowling with them of course) LOL
I'm going to get the Ultra Black and Burg. Unless I can find the all black pair

Honestly, both of them seemed soft and comfortable to me. Break in time was minimal with both, if any.
The 3G's seems more supportive, than the Dexter's.
What I like about the Tour Ultra's is they come with the cleat's.
You can purchase 2 additional sole's, the Adjust-A-Heel and one heel.
Dexter used to provide all of the soles and heel combo's with the SST5's and above, they have since stopped. The prices have not comedown on those shoes.
When someone buys adjustable shoes they may need certain combinations, so they are stuck buying what is needed and maybe a few they don't. Atleast provide a couple choices/options.

How many combos did they have? With the SST8 they come with 3 heel and 6 soles
