Drilled my Venom up over the weekend
Ended up drilling it basically as the skid flip layout in the instructions.
Dual angle it's 50*, 5.5pin, 40*
My pap is 6" over
I had to drill a weight hole, and also did that per the instructions 4" from grip center. I'M GLAD I DIDN'T GET CREATIVE HERE! If I had gone 5" from the grip center it would flare over the weight hole!
I'm not a "super cranker" but definitely get a lot of hand in the ball...and also have a faster than average speed. (I'm 6'3 and have quite a wing span)
This flares A LOT, but is very predictable and full of energy!
I took the shine off the ball and threw it at 4000 abralon.
I LOVE IT! This thing goes long effortlessly, and finishes like gangbusters. I really think polished I would get a lot of over/under, but the 4000 abralon seems perfect for me.
Shot 246 right out the gate, leaving two 9 pins, and having one brain fart...
The second game the outside was really burning up, and not having any time with the ball couldn't really tell when that "time to put it away" spot came up.
I still shot 219, but was starting to fight the ball and was really covering most of the lane. It was A LOT of fun to watch!!! I mean it was hysterical...how much recovery this has.
Last game was interesting which leads me to my "1 - 2 punch".
I took my anger (5.5 pin x 5.5cg, pin just under ring finger) that was 2000 abralon and polished it up....I did this last week and haven't thrown it yet. I shot 300 with this ball at 2000 -no polish, back in October....anyway...
After the 2nd frame of the 3rd game (and starting open, open) I grabbed the polished up Anger just to see what it would do compared to the Venom, moved 5 boards right and went dead flush. Then shot 238, just beating up the pocket.
The Anger was very smooth like this, and was totally sweet on the spotty/burned up shot.
This is going to be a GREAT 1-2 punch for me. I want to go practice a little to see where my doom fits into the mix....and I just bought a "pro CG" Cell for $80 off of bowling ball.com.
If the Cell does what I think it will, and I can find a good ball to go to when the Anger is too much (razyr?).....I'll have a good little arsenal going here. ;)
