....... And all I can say is wow. :D
The turnout was great for the juniors, lots of bowlers who were also bowling to try and get into either the Under 16 or Under 18 boys or girls team. There was also an adult version of these trials further down the lanes, which was good to watch.
Before I started, I knew I would have to push myself today because in the first trial at Purley I came bottom with a 140-150ish average over 6 games.
The first two games weren't too bad, pretty much on average, I had a 161 and 159 and I was looking at how the other girls were doing and they were doing better, which got me a bit down but we moved after every 2 games, so I thought to stay positive that the next set of lanes would be better, and they were. I had a 191 and a 185, the 191 could have been a 200 easily because I had 6 9 spares on the trot but still it was good nonetheless.
Next we moved onto another set of lanes and these were so much better-in the first game of the last two, I had a 224 like this:
X X 9/ X X X 9/ 9/ X 8/7
Not bad but I thought right I can do just as well as this in the last game.
In the first few frames of the last game, I seriously thought it would only be a 170, but then I thought, I am capable of getting a 600 series and I just went for it. The great thing is that I managed it, by getting a 6 bagger from frame 5 onwards :) The game ended up as a 225 like this:
8- X 81 7/ 9/ X X X X XXX
My first set of 3 was a 511 series and the final 3 a 634 series. The 634 is my new personal best of high series and it spooked me a little because my first 600 series was bowled at the same place (Worthing Bowl) for the exact same event
Maybe I should bowl there more often, if I bowl that well :D The other final bit of news from this is that I ended up being the top out of all the girls even with the bad games played at Purley. I have one more trial to go in 3 weeks time and I'm hoping to stay in the top 7 and I can't thank my coaches enough for helping me improve.
