Okay kids, let's call this one sorta biting the hand that feeds me. But I really gotta know.........
Um....oh great Powers That Be at Hammer, just how am I supposed to go buy a brand spanking new, high performance bowling ball when I live in fear that the minute the drill bit hits the ball you guys will release something to make the ball I just bought obsolete??? Wanted a Venom. Walked into the Pro Shop to buy it and the guys ask's me have I seen the new Sting. Whoops. I wanted to buy an Acid. Right before I went to place the order y'all popped up with the Burn. I wanted the Burn. Just about to make the trade for a Burn and here comes the Jacked. I'd really like a Jigsaw in the bag,but the way things are going....... I'm feeling pretty "Jacked" around right about now. And not in a good way. In your rush to try to get me to buy a ball, you've managed to do the one thing that you shouldn't have. You've stunned me into inactivity. As in now I won't buy a ball at all. Think I want the ever lovely Tinkerbell hounding my butt for eternity about buying a ball that couldn't go the distance for at least one season before something better came along??? I'd rather shove my face in a blender,it won't hurt as much and it'll be over a lot faster. I really do understand the need for something,"New and Improved",but counting "Jacked" there are now 16 balls in the Hammer lineup. Sixteen balls??? And a "new" 'Saw will make an even 17 balls. Trying to corner the market on confusion, are we??? And confused we are. Go to Wal-Mart and watch customers in the cookie aisle. 200 chioces boggles the mind,so we buy......nothing. Same thing here. Why,oh why do we need 17 "different" balls??? We don't. Too many,"New and Improved" choices damn near killed off the cereal and soap companies. Remember??? History can repeat itself here. Don't let it. Learn from the past or go the way of Quisp cereal. Six balls would be plenty. Or has that,"Build in quantity and reap huge profit while lowering the price" thing I was taught in business school gone out of fashion??? Another thing: A December release??? Really??? Hate to be a bother, but have ANY of you rocket scientist's noticed that the bowling "season" starts in August for a vast majority,(95%) of your customers??? I mean,I know the power was out in Kentucky for a while last winter, but I'd have thought y'all done been thawed out by now. Brain freeze is not an excuse here. Huge Bowling Ball Buying Hint: I buy new stuff in June or July. Then spend the summer dialing it in. Second Big Hint: I'll also buy in late January-early February. Why??? It's halfway through the season,if I feel I need to make a change to move up in the standings I'll buy ONE ball. One. Christmas??? Two words. Bowling shirts. Thanks for listening, I remain sitting on my wallet. Later, Rowdy

You could do what I did. I buy a few balls when they come out in Sept., then I sell the new balls I dont like from Sept. around December and get what I like from the new bunch. Sounds like I spend a lot of money on equipment but I really dont, basically what I used to do was keep all my equipment in really good shape. Then save up money here and there until Dec. rolled around and then I would sell the ball or balls I didnt like either on here or on ballreviews and that would add up to a new ball purchase from Buddies in Dec.
I just recently got a few balls so Im good for now, maybe will pick something up around Feb. or in the spring. But I do agree with you, with 20+ balls coming out from all the companies every year, it does get to be a bit much, because a ball you just got becomes obselete. I like to keep up with the new stuff which tends to be a bad thing.

i feel the same way Rowdy. when i odered the sting i didn't see the saw in my proshoppers book-o-bowling stuff so i didn't even know the day after i get my ball drilled he shows me the saw and to be honest i was alittle PO'ed.
we dont have to have 17 different balls to choose from. i'm a store manager at BK and every month we have somthing new and customers get overwhellmed by all the new stuff they just go with their usual J whop :>( but i will probably buy the jacked i havn't had a chance to throw a Raw Hammer yet so this will be my first however i'm going to wait to have it drolled till later in the year i just got my sting figured out ya know lol and i am destroying the pocket by the way hammer best Widow yet.

The balls do not become obsolete that quick.
The Acid has been out a good while before the Burn was announced. The Venom was out a year before the Sting came out. It is not like they are announcing the new Jacked and then come Dec 1st they announce anew ball coming out befopre anyone buys the Jacked. Ebonite International and it's branches are coming out with new equipment between now and Jan. So keep your eye's peeled for some new equipment. But it doesn't mean they become obsolete. BTW do balls really become obsolete? I do not think so. Think about all those older balls we have in our arsenal that we still use at tmes. There will always be a time that we will find a condition that we use them on.

tru dat bubba. i never really thought the balls would go obsolute i'm still using my BW Pearl and Venom even though i have the Sting. but the point i think rowdy reall struck was the consumer overwhelming aspect of it. now if your like me i look at all this stuff and can't wait till tax time and i'll be like a fat kid in a candy shop. i'll be picking ud the Jigsaw, the Burn and Jacked. and what ever i dont like i'll bring it here.

That's what I feel like right now. I'm looking at all these ball choices and since there's so many I can't pull the trigger on one. Bubba-okay,maybe "obsolete" isn't the correct word, but it got the point across. To those of us who have to pay for the ball it really gets old when shortly after you buy it the "Most Aggressive" ball in a line out comes a "More Aggressive Than That Thing You Just Bought" ball. Not only are you PO'ed,you feel like a damn sucker. And that is not the way you want your customers feeling.

Much as I'd love a new ball,I'm buying used. Money ain't an object and I don't mind redrilling something. But I hate getting that "Sucker" feeling after a couple of months down the road.

lol i'm right there with ya even though i'll be picking up all the new stuff come tax time i'm still going cheap i will redrill it if i don't like the way it's drilled. but i agree i believe they need to stop using the "most agresive" title on evry ball they sell and i often feel like, when watching these movies, i get the "your game sucks if you don't have this ball feeling" i love the videos but thats the feeling i get when i watch any of them
