o.k. the first answer, It really depends on the house you go to, some oil on certain days, some oil every night and some oil every morning the thing to do is when you walk in ask the person at the counter when the lanes were oiled last and what there oiling schedule is they will most likely tell you. Second answer, some do it different but most strip the lanes first (take oil off) then they lay a new oil down, others just lay the oil right on top of the old pattern, once again depends where you go.Third answer, The less oil there is on the lane the more the ball will hook, the more oil there is the less it will hook or atleast it will go farther down the lane before it does. Hope this helps.

More Oil = Less Hook in general. A dry lane will allow a ball to grip the lane better, and it will turn over and hook more. So, if the lanes are dry you may find yourself having to throw the ball out and allowing it to come back in. If the lanes are oily, you could always try throwing over the second arrow, straight and letting it hook in on the backend.

It depends all on play style however.

Man, those are all loaded questions. There are multiple answers to all of them. I will start with the less oil ,more hook . Now, what most dont believe is that when the lanes get dry enough, the ball actually hooks less. It rolls out and stop hooking

And now for the confusing part: A typical house shot will have oil from the 7 or 8 board IN. From there out it's dry. Or vice versa. Or the heads will be dry and the backend oiled. Or the heads oiled and the backend dry. Or the oil pattern will look like a christmas tree. Or it could be laid in blocks. You didn't think this was easy, did you? Now you know why some of us own so many different balls.

yes this is very true. if there isn't any oil my nmb will flare out and straighten out on the back end. i definitely prefer the lanes to be flooded.

If you like them flooded, come to Dead Moines,,,, myself, I haven't met a lane too dry yet,,,, I ALWAYS have my biggest scores when my ball comes back with NO oil ring on it

Ain't this the truth. All my gear works way better on oil. Just wish we had some around here.
