Default New Widow Owner

Just picked up my new Black Widow on Saturday and used during my son and I's adult/youth league. Shot 625 with it and must say I absolutely LOVE this ball. Hits like a MACK truck. Way to go Hammer!!!
Side note: Great job Dougie Fresh for making TV 2 out of the 3 weeks already!!

Does the widow hook well on heavy oil?

On heavy oil I have heard the No Mercy is great(from what Pincrusher said), but I have used the Widow on Heavy oil and don't have a problem, just gotta figure out where to stand.. The Widow was meant for Medium-Heavy oil..

In my experience (and maybe only mine)...

One trend I've noticed with balls is, contrary to popular belief, is that balls that hook early are better for "drier" conditions because they provide a predictable hook, whereas medium/heavy oil seem to work better with balls drilled/meant to go long and deliver all of thier hook on the back end.

If a ball starts tracking in the oil it's not going to move, but rather just expend all of it's power where it won't get used. Likewise, a ball meant to snap on the back (with todays new coverstocks) is going to be better for the oil, because they save all of their reaction for the back part (dry end) of the lanes.

If you use a ball that's meant to skid/flip on a dry condition it's going to hook early (because the reactive coverstocks which are available today) and then explode really ugly on the back end of the lanes. It'll be less predictable.

Anyway, I think you see where I'm going. And again, this has been my experience, but maybe it'll help.

congrates on your new black widow!!! This is one awesome ball first game out of the box for me was 214 and i only avg 170 so maybe this ball will finially be the one ive been looking for. This ball will hook on oil no problem. I just have move a few boards left( left handed) and slow down a little and wow does this thing explode to the pocket even when there is a ton of carry down this ball still moves. Tried it on dry lanes last nite and put it away real fast ( took out the 10 pin with it ..oh well)i guess i now have a ball for all lane conditions
