Ok so the tape wasn't really an issue as all my thumb holes are very close in size even with the tape. I have found that I am still gripping the ball but it isn't needed. I am working on loosening my swing and still keeping my wrist firm and cupped but we will see, hopefully I can get practice in over the weekend.

If yhou are gripping the ball, your thumb pitch may have to be changed to goive you a more relaxed grip.

It is a habit, i really dont need to grip it. I was switching through alot of ball drillers a while back and all had different thoughts and methods. I have now found one that has adjusted my pitch slightly and my span, he has taken some time to watch my game more so than some of the others and he will be the one i plan on sticking with for a while. Anyway it is from some changes that were made prior that have me wanting to grip using my thumb with no real reason. I stayed after league for a little while with the center manager and worked on releasing the ball smoother and staying through my shot and it seemed to clear the problem up some.

Posted this in a different thread before I saw this one.

3) I used to have a cupped release and a forced swing, since switching to a free(er) arm swing and now I cock my wrist to the left with little to no cup. I get a good reaction on the ball but no longer tracks over the thumb hole.

I actually have read through your entire post and blog on that topic, it was very insightful and helpful as I was able to focus on a few things to assist myself. I was glad you chose the Noize I have a hard time now deciding which ball to throw because I have the Noize and The Sauce. They are both drilled by the same Hammer Staff member and love the feel I get I just have a hard time telling myself I don't need to grip it and rip it. Key problem is I am a big guy and have a habit of muscling the ball some.
